Job Description

The EDI and SAP BTP Supplier Engagement Portal Project Manager will oversee all aspects of the project lifecycle, from initiation and planning to execution, monitoring, control, and closure. This includes managing project scope, timeline, budget, resources, risks, and communication while collaborating closely with internal stakeholders and external vendors.

A strong understanding of EDI processes, SAP S/4HANA, SAP BTP, and supplier relationship management, combined with a retail background, is essential.

Here is a taster of what you can expect in this role:

  • Develop and maintain a detailed project plan, including scope, timeline, budget, resource allocation, and risk management strategies. Execute the project according to the plan, ensuring milestones are met, and deliverables are completed on time and within budget.

  • Effectively communicate with internal stakeholders (e.g., business and technology) and external suppliers, ensuring alignment, addressing their needs and concerns, and building strong relationships with key stakeholders.

  • Manage relationships with external vendors, including EDI solution providers and system integrators. Negotiate contracts (where directed), monitor performance, and ensure deliverables meet quality standards.

  • Oversee the implementation of EDI processes for selected business transactions (e.g., purchase orders, invoices, shipping notices), ensuring seamless integration with the SAP BTP Supplier Engagement Portal and, by extension, the SAP S/4HANA and SAP CAR systems.

  • Manage the integration of the Supplier Engagement Portal with SAP BTP, ensuring data integrity, security, and performance. Collaborate with technical teams to resolve integration challenges.

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive supplier onboarding plan, including communication, training, and support materials. Ensure a smooth transition for suppliers to the new portal.

  • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks. Develop contingency plans to address potential issues and minimise their impact on the project.

  • Obtaining the validation of the Business Case based on a Best, Worst, and Most Likely scenario construct, as well as the Continual validation of the Business Case with the Project Sponsor

  • Operating within the requirements specified by the organisation’s operating mode, including the Delivery Framework and the Governance Framework

  • End-to-end coordinated management of all project streams and stage gates per the requirements of the organisation

  • Agreeing & managing the Sponsor & Steering Committees realistic expectations on project Scope, Time, Cost & Quality, and delivering against these key measures.

  • Providing the Sponsor and steering Committees with ongoing confidence in project delivery certainty and people's capacity/ability to apply the new capability.

  • Ensuring all project component delivery/operational/regulatory/reputation risk impacts are maintained within acceptable and agreed parameters.

  • Ensuring Architectural alignment with the organisation’s Business & Technology requirements.

  • Securing project resources with the necessary experience aligned to the complexity of the task or instituting a resource risk minimisation plan if the appropriate resources are unavailable.

  • Securing individuals with the demonstrated experience to undertake the complexity of the task to be performed

  • Establishing clear delegated authority, accountabilities & performance management structures for the project

  • Development of direct reports for current role and next move career aspirations and ensuring all other project resources receive similar development opportunities.

  • Ensuring supplier vendors fully align with project goals, the organisation’s Project Management requirements, & Values.

  • Assisting with creating the organisation’s future capability by gathering and documenting Lessons Learned.

  • Ensuring key Stakeholders remain strongly committed to the projects.

Qualifications

Now let’s talk about you: 

  • Proven experience (10+ years) as a Project Manager or similar role

  • Strong understanding of EDI standards (e.g., ANSI X12, EDIFACT) and communication protocols.

  • Experience with specific EDI mapping tools and integration platforms.

  • Knowledge of SAP ERP systems (e.g., S/4HANA, SAP BTP).

  • Experience in the Retail Industry

  • Excellent communication, time management, and organisational skills

  • Ability to work well in a team environment and collaborate effectively with others

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

  • Knowledge of project management methodologies, tools, and techniques

  • Proficient in using applications including but not limited to presentation, spreadsheet, and word processing applications.

Desirable

  • Relevant undergraduate qualifications. 

  • Relevant project management qualifications such as PMP (Project Management Professional)

  • Retail and/or FMCG experience.

  • Knowledge of project management methodologies (e.g., PMBOK, Agile) is desirable.
