Riot Sydney is looking for an experienced Quality Engineer to join the Sydney-based VALORANT, Foundations Engineering team. Internal Job Title: QA Engineer III.

As a Senior QA Engineer on the Foundations team within VALORANT, you will be working with your development team to drive improvements to the VALORANT workflow. In addition you will be working with all disciplines to drive holistic quality ownership, as well as establishing and executing team-wide quality goals. You will be accountable as the Quality Lead for your team and product in addition to identifying and implementing quality improvements to the team’s development process. Lastly, you will find and address risks to feature delivery and product quality, and craft data to report on the quality of the product. You will report to the Quality Engineering Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Mature the team’s quality mindset, knowledge and skills within the quality domain
  • Drive improvements to product pipelines and workflows
  • Conduct quality activities throughout the software development life cycle, including planning, execution, evaluation and reporting
  • Provide direct oversight and guidance on developing test plans and test execution
  • Define quality goals within the project with your team, measuring these to guide action
  • Proactively highlight quality concerns and risks to product stakeholders
  • Collaborate to develop risk mitigation strategies
  • Be the voice of our users

Required Qualifications: 

  • You understand what it takes to grow quality for a team, project, or other multidisciplinary effort
  • Can raise questions and converse with engineers on technical implementations
  • Ability to perform deep-dive technical quality analysis
  • Experience designing and executing quality plans
  • Experience managing components of a defect database
  • Experience working embedded with developers
  • Experience creating custom reports on test coverage and defect data
  • Intermediate fluency in a scripting language, such as C#
  • 5+ years Software Quality Assurance Experience, with success leading quality on a team

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience working in engine development teams
  • Development experience across several platforms; mobile, console, and PC etc
  • Practised at adapting to varied product streams
  • Experience working with remote vendors and providing feedback on effectiveness
  • Experience working on Unreal-based games
  • Experience using quality management tools such as Jira
  • Experience working with build pipelines and workflows
  • Experience with build tools such as Jenkins
  • Experience with Perforce and Git
  • Bachelor of Computer Science or equivalent
  • Preferred Licenses/certifications:
    • BBST Foundations
    • BBST Test Design
    • ISTQB Foundation Level
    • ISTQB Agile Tester or ICAgile Agile Testing (ICP-TST) 
    • ISTQB Expert Level
    • ICAgile Test Expert (ICE-AT)
