The Senior Quality Engineer is responsible for testing Qantas Loyalty applications, as well as building out our test automation infrastructure. As a Senior Quality Engineer, you will be contributing to the continuous development of automation scripts, suite, improving and building CI infrastructure.
You will be empowered to determine and implement the best solutions. Additionally, you will also be exploring non-functional testing like accessibility/performance/security and improving on testing tools and test approach. Coordinate with team members to create automated test cases and analyse and resolve test failures.
What you’ll bring to the role:
- Bachelor’s Degree in information systems, Computer Engineering or equivalent technical Degree; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 7+ years’ Experience in a large enterprise QA role
- 5+ years’ experience in designing and implementing automation testing of mobile apps, web services and RESTful API.
- Experience leading improvements to QE processes, workflow and practices
Must have:
- Extensive experience with version control tools like Git, GitHub, Jenkins, CI/CD, code reviews etc
- Experience in embedding best practice in application testing within project delivery teams
- Experience researching and troubleshooting bugs and performance bottlenecks in a production environment
- Experience in using proxy tools (Charles, Proxyman) for debugging production and lower environments
- Strong knowledge of Java or JavaScript programming languages
- Experience in working with an E2E testing framework like Playwright, TestCafe or Cypress
- Thorough knowledge and experience with, Unit, Integration, System, End to End, UAT, PVT etc functional testing techniques
- Worked within an AGILE experience working in cross-functional AGILE teams
- Knowledge and experience of cloud platforms such as AWS services (like SQS, SNS, etc)
- Expertise in technical leadership, supporting the quality engineering team in delivering quality software. On a day to day basis, the senior quality engineer is actively helping lead the agile processes of the organisation, positively leading and contributing to discussions and team dynamics.
- Understanding of content management systems like Contentful and AEM
- Expertise in defining and execution of testing strategies and plan
- Knowledge of Dockers, Containers, Splunk, Swagger etc
Good to have:
- Knowledge and experience in Mobile App automation, in particular using Karate automation framework
- Reporting and managing test cases and defects using Atlassian JIRA/Confluence, or other equivalent tools
- Expertise in pair programming with developers, functional testers or QA Analyst on automation testing
- Excellent skills in workshop facilitation, presentation, consultation and negotiation
