Senior Research Integrity Officer

• Opportunity to lead and manage complex research integrity investigations across the University

• Base Salary $152,045 - $160,430 + 17% superannuation

About the opportunity

As the Senior Research Integrity Officer, you will play a critical role in supporting the University's commitment to responsible research practice and research excellence. Reporting to the Research Integrity Manager, you will lead the investigation of serious and complex research conduct matters and complaints, including allegations of research misconduct, ensuring matters are managed in accordance with the University's Research Code of Conduct and principles of procedural fairness.

You will work within the Research Integrity Office to provide expert advice to decision-makers and stakeholders, contribute to policy and process improvement initiatives, and help strengthen institutional capability and assurance in research integrity practice. You will also mentor junior team members and support strategic projects that enhance the University's research governance framework.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

• investigate serious and complex research integrity matters and complaints, managing investigations from initial assessment through to final outcome

• develop investigation plans, gather and analyse evidence, facilitate interviews, draft allegations and correspondence, and prepare reports and recommendations for decision-makers

• apply risk-informed, person-centred and procedurally fair investigation practices when managing sensitive and high-risk matters

• provide expert advice on research misconduct investigations, procedural fairness, risk management, referral pathways and regulatory requirements

• liaise with internal and external stakeholders while maintaining confidentiality, independence and professional boundaries

• contribute to the continuous improvement of research integrity policies, procedures, systems, reporting and assurance activities

• identify systemic issues, emerging risks and opportunities for improvement arising from research integrity matters

• mentor and support Research Integrity Advisors and other team members through guidance, coaching and knowledge sharing

• lead or contribute to strategic projects and initiatives that strengthen research integrity and responsible research practice across the University

• undertake additional projects and activities relevant to the role and classification level as required

About you

• relevant tertiary qualifications in a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of training and extensive experience

• demonstrated experience managing or investigating complex complaints, misconduct matters, or similar investigations within a higher education, regulatory, compliance, governance, integrity or legal environment

• strong understanding of research integrity principles, including knowledge of the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research, or the ability to rapidly acquire this knowledge

• highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate complex information, assess risk and formulate evidence-based recommendations

• exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing detailed reports and managing sensitive stakeholder interactions

• demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgement, manage competing priorities and work independently in a complex and fast-paced environment

• proven ability to build productive stakeholder relationships and provide guidance, coaching and mentoring to colleagues

• experience using case management, records management or information systems to support high-quality investigations and reporting outcomes

• experience providing advice on policies, procedures and compliance matters, preferably within a research, governance or regulatory setting
