The Sydney Pharmacy School is a globally recognised leading centre for pharmacy education. Our teams of researchers lead key internationally competitive research from molecules to medicines, from patient to policy, across a range of therapeutic areas.
The Sydney Pharmacy School is seeking to appoint a Senior Research Officer ( HEO 7) to join the multidisciplinary research team working on RESPONSIBLE PRE-OPERATIVE OPIOID USE FOR HIP AND KNEE ARTHROPLASTY II (OPIOIDHALT II) STUDY. The Senior Research Officer will support the formulation and execution of research initiatives. They will lead the grant acquisition process and direct the integration of advanced data management tools. They also will contribute to the creation, maintenance, and dissemination of research documentation.
This opportunity is open to candidates living anywhere along the East Coast of Australia, including Queensland (QLD), New South Wales (NSW), Victoria (VIC), and Tasmania (TAS). The role is fully remote, offering the flexibility to work from home; however, successful applicants will be required to travel to their nearest on-site location once per month for team collaboration and business activities. Please note that, due to the nature of the work, candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a NSW Health Check Level B clearance as a condition of employment.
Key Responsibilities
Assess participants and formulate tailored pain management plans in accordance with the Opioid HALT 2 study protocol
Contribute to grant applications, manuscript preparation for publication in peer-reviewed journals, and presentations at research conferences
Guide research direction and priorities, ensuring alignment with broader university goals
Evaluate and optimise grant management processes to maximise funding opportunities and successful acquisitions
Champion best practices in research, promoting innovative methodologies and ensuring strict compliance
Lead the design and implementation of advanced data management systems to support data-driven insights and research excellence
Foster external partnerships and collaborations to enhance research impact and visibility
Oversee research documentation and publication strategies to ensure effective dissemination of findings
Promote open communication and collaboration within the team, addressing stakeholder queries and concerns promptly while building trust within work networks
Manage report compilation to meet established standards, identify compliance improvements, and collaborate with the team to resolve discrepancies
Coordinate purchasing processes and address any discrepancies in payment schedules
Monitor team risk, promote workplace health and safety, ensure compliance with university policies, and proactively address potential challenges
Undertake other duties appropriate to the classification level as required.
About you
Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy
Minimum 5 years’ experience working as an clinical Pharmacist
Pervious experience working in an orthopaedic surgery
Min 2 year experience in pain management
experience in research project management in a University setting
Extensive experience monitoring and tracking budgets and expenditure
Proven experience coordinating large, multidisciplinary projects & teams
Experience using MS Suite including teams and project management software
Experience supervising research staff
Ability to coordinate logistical aspects across multiple projects, managing team performance and resource allocation
Experience contributing to research publications and a publication track record.
