Job Description

This role strengthens TAL’s commitment to protecting our customers and our business by fostering a culture where risk awareness and compliance are part of how we work every day. By guiding GL&R in understanding and managing its risks and partnering closely with our Line 2 colleagues to ensure we meet our regulatory obligations, this role helps safeguard the trust Australians place in us. It’s meaningful work that supports TAL’s broader mission to deliver life‑changing protection with confidence, integrity and care.

In This Role You Will:

  • Deliver clear, timely risk and compliance advice that enables our Group Life & Retirement business unit to operate confidently and compliantly.
  • Help stakeholders identify and understand key risks so they can make informed, customer‑focused decisions.
  • Drive effective remediation by analysing impacts and shaping practical corrective and preventative actions.
  • Strengthen GL&R’s risk culture by coaching team members and acting as a trusted escalation point.
  • Enhance decision‑making through insightful reporting on incidents, root causes and emerging risk trends.
  • Build strong partnerships across Line 1 and Line 2 to uplift consistency and alignment in risk practice.
  • Stay ahead of regulatory and business changes to ensure GL&R remains prepared and compliant.
  • Strengthen incident management by ensuring risks are understood early and addressed with clarity and accountability.

Qualifications

  • Experience working in a risk or compliance environment and applying frameworks in a practical way
  • Ability to assess controls and manage incidents with a clear, end‑to‑end mindset
  • Understanding of key regulatory requirements in life insurance and superannuation
  • Strong stakeholder skills to build trust and collaborate effectively across teams
  • Confident analytical thinking to interpret issues and support sound decisions
  • Clear written and verbal communication
  • Ability to influence outcomes through balanced, solutions‑focused conversations
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications
  • Comfortable using core business tools, including Excel, to analyse and present information
