About the role
Build the future of fintech — with AI at the core
Lendi Group is evolving into an AI-native fintech, embedding artificial intelligence into how we design, build, and operate our products. This isn’t about bolting on tools — it’s about empowering engineers to solve harder problems, move faster, and deliver smarter, more personalised experiences for millions of Australians.
We’re investing heavily in upskilling, experimentation, and modern engineering practices, giving our teams access to cutting-edge AI capabilities and the autonomy to shape how they’re used. If you’re curious, collaborative, and excited by what AI can unlock in real-world products — this is your moment.
We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our established team with high amount of BAU — You’ll work alongside passionate, experienced engineers tackling complex product and platform challenges, while helping define how AI is practically applied across our engineering lifecycle. You’ll have genuine influence — on architecture, engineering standards, delivery rhythm, and the evolution of an AI-enabled fintech platform — all in a team that values learning, ownership, and having fun while doing meaningful work.
Job DescriptionOwn and deliver robust, scalable systems, influencing architecture and design decisions
Practise a true “you build it, you own it” mindset — from development to monitoring and support
Build clean, maintainable code with strong CI/CD practices and modern engineering standards
- Work as a full-stack engineer, building backend services in Node.js (TypeScript) with React front-ends
- Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Designers, BAs, and Engineers in cross-functional agile squads
- Partner with Product and UX to shape intuitive customer journeys and interaction patterns
- Drive team rhythm across planning, delivery, deployment, and continuous improvement
- Mentor and uplift engineers across the team and broader engineering group
- Apply AI tools thoughtfully across the SDLC to improve productivity, quality, and outcomes
Core experience
5+ years of backend development experience
Strong proficiency in Node.js (TypeScript) and modern backend ecosystems
Strong API design skills: REST, schema-first design, GraphQL, webhooks, and auth (Auth0, JWT)
Deep understanding of microservices architectures and messaging patterns (event-driven, pub/sub, request-response)
- Hands-on experience with Kafka, Docker, and Kubernetes
- Strong AWS experience (IAM, Lambda, DynamoDB, ECS, SSM)
- Experience with DevOps and Infrastructure-as-Code approaches
AI & modern engineering (new and evolving)
- Strong understanding of AI tools and their practical use across the SDLC
- Experience or exposure to AI engineering, including:
- Building Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines
- Prompt engineering for effective LLM use cases
- Working with LLM frameworks such as LangChain, Semantic Kernel, Agno, or similar
- Exposure to agentic AI (AI agents, task orchestration, automation workflows)
- Willingness to work across a variety of AI tools as the ecosystem evolves
Nice to have (but not essential)
- Experience with Kotlin (used in parts of our Partner Product space)
- Exposure to MongoDB, including schema design, indexing, and change streams
- Experience streaming or integrating data into platforms like Databricks
- Analytics and observability tools such as Amplitude and Datadog
- Experience with Fastify (or similar Node frameworks) and Zod schema validation
- Knowledge of Auth0 + OpenFGA and multi-client authentication flows
- Understanding of security and compliance in an AI-enabled environment
Why Lendi Group?
Build real products used by millions, not experiments in isolation
- Be part of a genuine AI-native transformation, not just “AI theatre”
- Learn, experiment, and lead with modern AI and cloud technologies
- Work with smart, supportive engineers who value ownership and craft
- Shape the future of fintech while continuing to grow your own skills
If you’re excited by AI-enabled engineering, ownership at scale, and building meaningful fintech products — we’d love to hear from you.
