Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to join our high‑performing technology team, playing a key role in designing and delivering mission‑critical systems that directly support the generation and distribution of clean energy across the country. This role offers the rare opportunity to contribute to truly meaningful work that impacts millions of Australians.

As a Senior Engineer, you will work closely with business stakeholders and cross‑functional development teams to architect and implement scalable, cloud‑native applications. You will bring technical leadership and sound engineering judgment to solution design, roadmap planning, and delivery activities, while maintaining hands‑on involvement across the full application lifecycle. This is a role for someone who thrives in complex technical environments—balancing innovation, reliability, and user experience—while mentoring team members and uplifting the broader engineering capability.

In this position, you will take responsibility for shaping end‑to‑end application workflows, designing and implementing features across both client‑side and server‑side components, and integrating with major data platforms including MongoDB and Oracle. Your work will involve optimising performance, ensuring system scalability, managing third‑party integrations, and resolving technical issues across multiple layers of the stack. You will also play a core role in strengthening our CI/CD automation, infrastructure‑as‑code practices, and cloud deployment capabilities using GitLab and Terraform.

Beyond technical contribution, you will help drive engineering standards and continuous improvement across the team. This includes participating in Agile ceremonies, supporting code reviews, maintaining high‑quality documentation, and championing best practices such as SOLID principles, clean code methodologies, and modern design patterns. Your ability to translate complex technical concepts for diverse audiences and to mentor junior engineers will be critical to success in this role.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in application development with the .NET framework and modern C#
  • Strong capability in building user interfaces with Blazor or similar component‑based UI frameworks
  • Proven experience designing and deploying cloud‑native applications on AWS, including serverless and managed services
  • Expertise in API development and integration using GraphQL and REST
  • Solid hands‑on experience with MongoDB and Oracle, including schema design and performance optimisation
  • Experience of WCF/WPF
  • Strong Infrastructure-as-Code skills with Terraform
  • Proficiency with CI/CD pipelines and source control using GitLab or similar tools
  • Experience with DSL parsing using ANTLR or comparable tooling
  • Strong understanding of software design patterns, SOLID principles, and clean code practices
  • Demonstrated success working within Agile/Scrum methodologies
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex, multi‑layer technical issues
  • Strong communication skills, able to engage both technical and non‑technical stakeholders
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers and contributing to team capability uplift
  • Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
