G’day, we’re Mosh & Moshy.

Our mission is to get Aussies the best possible health outcomes through best-in class health programs. We know the current healthcare system is not meeting the needs of the modern Australian, and we reckon there’s a better, more holistic way. Our solutions for hair loss, sexual health, skin care, mental health and weight management are easy, accessible and completely discreet.

There’s nothing better than the feeling that what you’re doing matters and makes a difference. We’re pretty lucky that this is the norm, not the exception.

Engineering @ Mosh & Moshy

Our engineering team's growing and we're hiring multiple Senior Software Engineers, with a particular focus on growing our Sydney-based team.

We’re open to experienced backend specialists as well full-stack engineers whose strongest capability sits on the backend. While the shape of each role may vary, they all share a strong foundation in building reliable APIs, services and product capabilities that support our digital health platform.

As passionate technologists with an appreciation for clean code and fault tolerant systems – we believe in leveraging different perspectives and backgrounds because that makes our team and product stronger.

We look for teammates who are:

  • Curious and aim to understand things deeply.
  • Advocates for best practice.
  • Respectful and inclusive.
  • Comfortable sharing the grunt work.

What you’ll do

As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll:

  • Design, build and own APIs and services that form the core building blocks of our platform
  • Deliver reliable product capabilities from technical design through to production, monitoring and ongoing improvement
  • Write clean, well-tested and maintainable code, conduct thoughtful code reviews and produce clear technical documentation
  • Take the lead on solving complex technical challenges and making pragmatic, data-informed engineering decisions
  • Help evolve our architecture by decomposing monolithic applications into well-bounded, domain-driven services
  • Design and build resilient distributed and event-driven systems
  • Contribute across the stack where appropriate, working closely with Product, Design, Data and other engineers to deliver high-quality customer experiences
  • Build and improve deployment, testing and development practices that help the team release confidently
  • Contribute to automated regression, performance and resiliency testing to keep production stable and fast
  • Drive operational excellence through observability, runbooks and active participation in incident response and resolution
  • Explore new and emerging technologies, clearly documenting your findings and recommendations
  • Proactively identify and champion improvements to our engineering practices and standards
  • Mentor other engineers, model best practice and help raise the technical bar across the team
  • Support the continued growth of our engineering team through interviews, onboarding and knowledge-sharing

What you’ll bring

  • Around 6+ years of software engineering experience designing, building, deploying and scaling API-driven systems
  • Strong backend engineering capability and fluency in at least one modern programming language, such as Go, Java, Kotlin, Python or TypeScript
  • Strong experience designing and operating production workloads in a public cloud environment, particularly AWS
  • Extensive knowledge of cloud architecture principles and patterns
  • Strong knowledge of distributed systems, fault tolerance and resiliency patterns
  • Strong knowledge of API best practices, including contract-first design, versioning strategies and backwards compatibility
  • Experience designing and working with event-driven architectures, including messaging, streaming and eventual consistency
  • Strong experience with Linux and containerised environments using technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code and production observability practices
  • Solid working knowledge of relational databases such as PostgreSQL
  • A track record of writing clean, well-tested and maintainable code, with demonstrated technical initiative
  • The ability to balance technical quality with pragmatic product delivery
  • Healthy curiosity, strong autonomy and a deep sense of accountability for your work
  • A genuine drive to grow as an engineer and raise the standard of those around you

For our full-stack opportunities, you’ll also bring meaningful experience building modern web applications and delivering intuitive, high-quality customer experiences. You’ll remain comfortable spending a significant portion of your time working across backend services, APIs and data.

Experience that would be valuable

You don’t need to bring every one of these, but experience across any of the following would be highly regarded:

  • Contract-first API tooling such as OpenAPI or AsyncAPI
  • Messaging and streaming technologies such as Kafka or SNS/SQS
  • Terraform or equivalent Infrastructure as Code tooling
  • Observability tooling such as Prometheus and Grafana
  • CI/CD infrastructure and deployment automation
  • Performance, regression and resiliency testing
  • Breaking down or modernising large monolithic applications
  • Working within healthcare, fintech or another regulated environment

What’s on offer

We support a mix of in-office, hybrid and remote working across Australia. With several positions available, we’re open to exceptional candidates nationwide; however, we’re looking to grow our Sydney-based engineering presence and will prioritise candidates who can regularly collaborate from our Surry Hills office. If you’re Sydney-based, you’ll typically spend three days (M,W,F) in the office, with flexibility to work from home.

You’ll also enjoy:

  • Access to on-demand training and development
  • Up to 16 weeks of paid parental leave
  • Product discounts
  • Two additional days of annual leave each year
  • Purpose leave for mental health or learning and development
  • EAP and wellbeing programs
  • ClassPass discounts

Better, together

We value diversity of thought, background, and perspective. If you’re excited about this role but don’t meet every requirement, we still encourage you to apply. Come help us shape the future of healthcare at Mosh & Moshy!
