The Boeing MQ-28 Ghost Bat is a globally-significant program that will deliver a disruptive advantage to support Defence operational capabilities. Developed in partnership with the Royal Australian Air Force, it is the first military combat aircraft to be designed, manufactured and assembled in Australia in 50 years.
As we continue to mature the platform and rapidly expand on its skills and capabilities, Boeing Defence Australia (BDA) are seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to support the design, development, integration and testing of new capability for the MQ-28 Ghost Bat. You will work collaboratively across an interdisciplinary and multinational team on cutting edge systems.
This role is based in Brisbane and reports into the MQ-28 Payloads Engineering Manager.

You will work collaboratively across an interdisciplinary and multinational team on cutting edge systems.
This role is based in Brisbane and reports into the MQ-28 Payloads Engineering Manager.
As an experienced Senior Systems Engineer you will:
- Engage and collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders across technical engineering and specialty areas to develop and integrate innovative solutions to achieve capability objectives and requirements of the MQ-28 Mission System.
- Apply an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to requirements development and management including analysis of functional and non-functional requirements, functional performance specifications, architecture and interfaces to develop effective solutions for complex systems.
- Manage dependencies, assess trades and conduct technical design reviews in collaboration with the broader project team to ensure the engineering scope is delivered with quality and on schedule.
- Lead and develop verification requirements, test plans, procedures and reports.
- Coordinate, plan and conduct integration and formal verification testing of the MQ-28 Mission System.
- Support ground and flight test operations for the MQ-28 Mission System.
- Demonstrate leadership in development, review and approval of engineering documentation and designs while providing mentoring of less experienced staff.
- Manage technical risk and support identification, analysis and resolution of problem reports.
- Plan and coordinate incremental capability development and delivery within an AGILE framework.
To be considered for the role you will have:
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in complex technical development and integration projects
- Hold Tertiary qualifications in either Aerospace, Avionics, Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent technical experience in a Systems Engineering discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in systems and software development lifecycle (essential).
- Demonstrated experience in avionics system level testing in a laboratory and ground test environments (desirable).
- Experience with aircraft avionics, sensors and UAV systems (desirable).
- Familiarity with engineering change processes.
- Familiarity with software development, test and integration.
- Experience with aerospace and / or Defence projects (highly regarded).
