About Us

There’s something special about working for a company like Macquarie Telecom. We’re not the biggest in the industry, where you’re just a number. We’re not tiny enough that you’ve never heard of us. We’re in that sweet spot where we’re strong enough to punch above our weight. And we definitely do! Because of this, you have the opportunity to make a difference.

Ready to take a complex telco environment and make it simpler, smarter, and more observable? We’re hiring a Senior Systems Engineer to uplift the way we manage telco infrastructure through monitoring, automation, standardisation, integration, reporting, compliance checking and remediation.

What you’ll be owning (day to day):
🔧 Design, build, test and implement automation workflows to monitor network health, report key metrics, manage configs and ensure compliance
📈 Integrate and support tooling like Icinga, Grafana, NetBox, PowerDNS, Telegraf/Prometheus, Ansible
🚨 Build automated workflows for network incident & event management
🛡️ Maintain upgrades, patching and DR/restoration testing
✅ Report/manage (and where possible automate) remediation of compliance gaps between infrastructure under management and billing systems
🧩 Build bespoke apps/databases to support stakeholders
🤝 Partner with Product/Engineering to launch new network offerings (SDWAN / SDLAN / SD Firewall)
🧠 Ideate and implement AI into workflows (fault/change/config management)
📣 Document, train and champion a DevOps approach across the team

What you’ll bring:

  • ~5+ years across network/system administration, DevOps and/or software engineering
  • Strong automation: Bash, Python, REST APIs, Ansible
  • Linux sysadmin experience
  • DB admin capability: Postgres, MariaDB, Galera Cluster
  • ServiceNow workflow automation experience (fault/change/inventory)
  • Strong networking fundamentals (switching/routing/firewalls; security/network devices)
  • Nice to have: NodeJS / React / Go, AI agent development, VMware / SAN, large vendor NMS exposure

Join a team that’s been challenging the status quo in Australian telecom and cloud for decades—building secure, sovereign infrastructure and continuously raising the bar on customer outcomes. At Macquarie Technology Group, our purpose is clear: make a difference where customers are overcharged and overlooked, and we empower our engineers to deliver real impact through automation, observability, and operational excellence. You’ll be part of a business recognised for its culture (including #1 in category in Best Workplaces in Australia 2025) while working in a hybrid model that supports focus, flexibility, and collaboration.
