As part of the Business Platforms sub-group that sits within the IT Group, the People Systems teams supports the evaluation, implementation, administration, and ongoing innovation of the technology stack across the People domains.
Our team is solving some of Canva's biggest challenges by automating and improving the quality of our People processes to allow our employees to do their best work at a place they love. About the role:
We're looking for a talented Workday Systems Administrator to join our IT People Systems team. In this role, you will lead initiatives to configure, maintain and resolve workday issues or defects in a timely and efficient manner with exceptional service, making sure Workday implementation at Canva runs smoothly and meets our business needs.
This role is responsible for supporting business users and business leads, ensures accurate best practice business process/workflows and other system dependencies are in place within Workday to support the administration and integrations and reporting efforts.
Canva are undertaking a large scale optimization of our Workday suite, where you'll also be working alongside our IT group and vendors to drive a high priority remediation of our essential business processes.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Lead large scale projects in conjunction with the wider People & IT group, and our external vendors
  • Strong understanding of the touchpoints between modules and/or connections within Workday across functional areas. Make recommendations to automate, standardize, streamline, and scale existing processes.
  • Effectively partner with teams including People, Total Rewards, IT, Finance, and others; collaborate on business requirements to maximize Workday through efficient business processes and optimal end user experiences
  • Responsible for the gathering requirements, design, configuration, and support of critical functional areas; Time, Absence, Advance Compensation while continuing broader support of additional core functional areas already deployed
  • Manage the setup, configuration data and structures within the functional area in Workday to drive efficiencies, analytics, and processes
  • Responsible for semi-annual regression testing and the review and implementation of optional features.
  • Ensure systems quality and data accuracy via regular audits of data
  • Develop and share complex custom reports and calculated fields, maximizing efficiency by reusing existing reports.
  • Review business procedures and workflows to ensure system features are being fully utilized and identify Workday features that may improve efficiency and data accuracy
  • Responsible for managing and providing timely and consistent resolution to Tier 2 Workday related inquiries that are captured in a centralized ticketing system
  • Perform functional centralized transactions, such as business process management, administer security, custom reporting, core setup configuration, general maintenance, organization management, and EIB data imports.
  • Providing coaching and answering technical questions
  • Manage the updates for system related guides and workday releases
  • Understands the importance of change management to facilitate HR Digital Transformation initiatives
  • Participates in other HR related special projects and initiatives as needed, managing projects as requested


Required Experience:

  • Extensive (5 years +) HR and Workday HRIS experience
  • Experience in Workday HCM core configuration, EIBs and reporting required
  • Demonstrated successful project/process management experience
  • Experience with: Core HCM, On-boarding, Advanced Compensation, Absence,and Security
  • Ability to understand Functional architecture and flag the cross dependencies and impacts internal and external to Workday
  • Advance knowledge of HR data management and complex reporting writing skills preferred (Workday advance, matrix, and composite reports)
  • Must be proactive, self-motivated, able to work autonomously with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Solid knowledge of and experience with creating advance custom reports, monitoring, scheduling, troubleshooting integrations and data imports leveraging EIBs
  • Ability to manage multiple projects alongside production support activities
