The Opportunity:

KBR is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join a Sustainment Team, supporting cutting-edge Electronic Warfare (EW) sensors, visual surveillance systems, and associated Information and Communications Technology (ICT) for the Australian Army.

This is a dynamic role that offers the opportunity to work on critical defence capabilities within a multidisciplinary team.

This is a full-time permanent position, based in Melbourne. Interstate applicants may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

This position will require an active AGSVA NV1 clearance on commencement and the successful candidate must be willing to upgrade to an NV2.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct engineering investigations and safety analyses.
  • Develop, review, and revise technical documentation such as Operator Manuals, Maintenance Procedures, and Test Instructions.
  • Verify and validate technical data to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to define and refine design requirements in the context of engineering change management and configuration management.
  • Participate in Engineering Design Reviews.
  • Contribute to or develop Safety Case Reports.
  • Lead small, multidisciplinary teams to deliver specific work packages.
  • Operate within the SPO’s Engineering Management System.
  • Prepare high-quality engineering reports and design contract documents.
  • Adhere to Certification Standards and established industry practices.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key customers and suppliers.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to team members, including graduates, as required.

Required Qualifications, Experience and Knowledge

  • Degree qualified engineering professional. 
  • Experience with EW and/or Surveillance technologies.
  • Chartered Professional Engineer, desirable but not essential
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute Systems Engineering Management Plans
  • Hands-on experience in configuration management practice
  • Experience in risk management
  • Experience in Verification and Validation (V&V) planning and test execution.
