The Opportunity
Cochlear has an opportunity for a full-time Senior Systems Engineer based in our Macquarie, Sydney office. In this role, the successful candidate will play a key role in developing new systems, features, and products for hearing-impaired recipients through the application of systems engineering best practices. You'll be involved in all aspects of the product lifecycle, from initial concept to post-launch monitoring, ensuring that products meet user needs and business objectives. This is a unique opportunity to work in a high-impact role where your contributions directly improve the lives of individuals with hearing loss.
Responsibilities include:
- Apply systems engineering best practices and expertise to contribute to product development.
- Design, develop, and test prototypes to support product innovation.
- Lead and participate in design reviews, focusing on system performance and functionality.
- Define, manage, and ensure traceability of system requirements.
- Collaborate across functions to design and oversee seamless product and component integration.
- Identify, diagnose, and resolve cross-functional integration issues to ensure system coherence.

About You. As we grow our operations, we are looking for people who share our passion for delivering quality hearing solutions to our customers. To add value to Cochlear in this role, you'll be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:
Essential skills:
- Engineering/Science degree (Electrical, Software, Mechanical, Biomedical or Systems engineering preferred).
- 5 years post-qualification engineering experience in a R&D environment preferably with high-tech products.
- Ability to problem solve and deep dive technical issues
- Understanding of systems engineering principles, methods and tools that are appropriate for the development of medical devices.
- Ability to communicate effectively (and adjust communication style as needed) with cross-functional teams at various levels.
- Experience in influencing stakeholders to arrive at decisions and deliver project outcomes.
- Experience working in team-oriented, collaborative environment.
