We’re looking for a thoughtful and experienced Senior Systems Engineer to help design, build and maintain secure, scalable platforms that support Aussie Broadband’s growth and purpose.
You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams, mentor others, and champion reliability and automation across our infrastructure. This role is ideal for someone who values collaboration, continuous learning, and making a meaningful impact through technology.
This is a permanent, full-time role.

How will you support our “Why?”

At Aussie Broadband, our purpose is to connect people with passion. As a Senior Systems Engineer, you’ll help bring this to life by designing and maintaining platforms that are secure, scalable and empowering—for our team and our customers. You’ll be a key contributor to our engineering culture, helping shape the way we work and grow together.

  • Design and evolve platform architecture with a shift-left mindset to ensure availability, security and reliability.

  • Apply your understanding of the telco industry and industry/open-source standards to inform technical choices

  • Structure and run reliability practices including monitoring and incident response

  • Support multiple development and operations teams with automation, platforms and systems.

  • Build, operate and enhance service mesh technologies and multi-cluster architectures

  • Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of learning

  • Continuously improve performance, cost-efficiency and developer experience of all systems.

  • Participate in an on-call rotation to ensure platform reliability

  • Champion version control and automation tools (e.g. Git, ArgoCD, CI/CD)

  • Apply, build and structure networking concepts in containerised environments

  • Design systems with a security-first mindset, including encryption, segmentation, and compliance

  • Script in Go or Python (a bonus, not a must)
