About the Role

Working closely with our Senior Tax Manager, you’ll be responsible for the preparation of Challengers tax calculations and tax compliance.   By applying existing tax technical knowledge and experience, you will help deliver commercial outcomes that support our business.

You will be instrumental in ensuring tax compliance is managed effectively, while also contributing to ongoing enhancements in tax data governance and play a key role in process improvements.

You’ll be our tax compliance and reporting SME within the team, and you’ll enjoy digging into the detail and making sure we are utilising this and other technology in the optimum way.

Other key responsibilities will include (but aren’t limited to)

  • Leading the preparation and support of corporate tax return processes, tax effect accounting, and reporting.

  • Manage the preparation of FBT returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

  • Perform tax account taxation, GL reconciliations and provide payroll tax support.

  • Calculating and understanding the Group effective tax rate and its drivers and to clearly articulate these drivers to the relevant stakeholders on a timely basis.

  • Monitor global tax compliance requirements, track progress, and manage related budgets.

  • Assist in tax reviews and audits, liaising with external auditors and regulators.

  • Conducting tax research and keeping up to date with changes in tax law

  • Provide tax law guidance on day-to-day business activities and support process improvement initiatives.

  • Assist in developing and refining tax reporting frameworks using Workiva, Power BI, and other relevant tools.

  • Developing tools and techniques to forecast and analyse tax data.

The skills you’ll need.

You’ll be CA / CPA (or equivalent) qualified, with strong post qualification experience within a financial services environment.   

You’ll ideally have sound income tax knowledge and tax compliance skills, but the team are open to considering those with strong general technical accounting and financial reporting, with a genuine desire to step into a group tax team.

We are a collaborative business, so strong stakeholder engagement, interpersonal skills and collaborative ways of working are a must have.

As well as

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to improve and automate tax processes.

  • A strong user of MS Office in particular MS Excel, you’ll be comfortable working with large amounts of data and synthesise into meaningful insights and analysis.  

  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with finance and tax teams.

  • A pro-active learning approach – you are someone who wants to constantly refine and develop yourself taking every opportunity to learn and grow. 

Nice to have, but not essential.

  • Experience working with CCH Integrator

  • CTA Qualified
