About the business/role/team
We are seeking an experienced Senior Test Analyst to join the Functional Testing team in Payments Settlements department. The Department is responsible for the ongoing development and smooth operation of Reserve Bank Information and Transfer System (RITS) and the Fast Settlement Service (FSS), the day-to-day management of Exchange Settlement Accounts, and back-office settlement of transactions arising from the Bank's open market operations and reserves management trades. The Department also provides a low-value clearing service to payments system participants for the exchange of cheque and direct entry payment files.
About the role
- Partner with the team to drive continuous quality improvements, with a strong focus on testing practices. Promote a consistent, scalable approach and foster a quality-first mindset across the delivery lifecycle.
- Support the coordination and planning of testing activities to minimise risk and ensure high-quality outcomes, applying pragmatic and efficient testing strategies.
- Work closely with project stakeholders, developers, and business analysts to understand functional requirements, acceptance criteria, and business objectives.
- Conduct comprehensive analysis of functional requirements to design risk-based, fit-for-purpose test cases that align with project goals and quality standards.
- Plan and execute functional testing deliverables across multiple test levels, including system, integration, and user acceptance testing.
- Perform manual execution of functional, end-to-end, and regression test scenarios, ensuring adherence to test timelines and coverage expectations.
- Ensure timely reporting of defects, actively participate in defect triage meetings, and validate fixes to support efficient resolution and continuous improvement.
- Provide clear and regular test progress updates to lead and stakeholders, highlighting key metrics, risks, and issues.
- Ensure the accuracy, relevance, and accessibility of test documentation, analysis outcomes, and related artefacts throughout the project lifecycle.
- Contribute to the development of handover documentation for the Operations Team, ensuring a smooth transition and ongoing support capability.
About you
- Solid understanding of banking, payments, and settlement systems, including related services and operational processes.
- Extensive experience in planning, supporting, and executing functional testing for mission-critical systems.
- Demonstrated experience in testing ISO 20022 messages, with a strong grasp of message usage guidelines.
- Experience in testing data warehouse environments is highly desirable.
- Skilled in using industry-standard testing tools such as JIRA, QMetry, and database utilities.
- Strong ability to interpret technical documentation, analyze complex issues, and apply creative solutions.
- Hands-on experience with both waterfall and agile software development methodologies.
- Experience writing tests using GWT and developing automation scripts is a plus.
- Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders across technical and business domains.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business, Finance, or a related discipline.
