You will work closely with developers, support analysts and business analysts to clarify requirements, plan and execute testing, manage defects, and provide clear status and risk reporting to the Test Manager. Your focus is enabling high-quality, repeatable releases through strong automation practices and reliable CI execution.
Your responsibilities
Own and uplift automation coverage (API/UI where applicable) for the BBSW platform, including regression and end-to-end scenarios.
Review automation frameworks, test data strategy and execution approach; identify gaps and implement improvements for stability, speed and maintainability.
Design, build and maintain CI pipelines (build, deploy, execute and report) with clear quality gates and actionable reporting.
Develop high-quality automated test cases using Java (and C# where relevant), applying good engineering practices (code reviews, refactoring and reuse).
Support test planning, preparation and execution: define the test approach, estimate automation effort, and track progress against sprint and release commitments.
Manage defects end-to-end (triage, reproduction, root-cause support and verification) and communicate status, risks and dependencies.
Partner with BAs, developers, operations and business stakeholders to ensure requirements are testable and controls and edge cases are covered.
Support release readiness and sign-off by providing evidence (test results, traceability and defect status) suitable for audit and governance expectations.
Contribute to the QE&T Community of Practice (CoP) by sharing patterns, reusable components and lessons learned.
Your experience and qualifications
Must have
Strong test automation engineering experience (7+ years), including API automation (REST/HTTP) and test planning/execution.
Proficient programming skills in Java; working knowledge of C# (or ability to pick up quickly).
Experience designing and maintaining automation frameworks (e.g., BDD with Cucumber/Gherkin or equivalent), focused on stability and maintainability.
Strong understanding of testing types (system, integration, regression, end-to-end) and selecting the right approach for risk and coverage.
CI/CD experience: building and operating pipelines, integrating automated test execution, and producing clear test reporting using Gitlab
Hands-on experience with UI automation tools (e.g., Selenium, Playwright) and API automation libraries (e.g., RestAssured, RestSharp).
Experience with test data and environment management (creating, seeding, masking and/or validating data used for automated tests).
Working knowledge of Cloud Jira/Confluence (or equivalent) for test management, defect tracking and documentation.
Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with engineers and business stakeholders in a regulated, risk-aware environment.
Nice to have
Experience in financial markets, market data, benchmarks, or rate-setting processes.
Experience testing data pipelines (ETL/ELT), data quality controls, and reconciliation/validation rules.
Experience building automation test suites from scratch and uplifting legacy automation.
Exposure to FIX protocol or other risk/market connectivity standards.
Experience working in Agile delivery teams and contributing to continuous improvement.
