Kaluza reimagines energy to bring net-zero within everyone’s reach. The Kaluza Platform enables energy utilities to unlock the full value of a radically changing energy system and propel us to a future where renewable energy is sustainable, affordable and accessible for all.
From automating and simplifying core operations including billing to create a lower-cost, higher-engagement experience, to optimising energy usage across smart devices in the home, we turn tough challenges into win-win-win outcomes for customers, suppliers and the energy system.
We champion a flexible, hybrid work approach and we find that teams often benefit from coming together in the office at least 2-3 days a week to foster connection and accelerate progress.
Outside of these collaborative opportunities, we aim to be as flexible as possible to balance work with life. As a company we come together annually for our conference and end of year celebrations!
Our goal is to build a self-sufficient and empowered team here on the ground in Australia. We’re well on our way, but until we get there we still have some reliances on our UK team. Being comfortable working flexibly for a portion of your working week to cover time zones is required.
What will I be doing?
You'll join Kaluza's growing Australia team, working alongside a talented mix of Product Managers, Engineers, and Delivery experts. You'll also be a vital member of our global User Experience Design team, with colleagues based in Europe.
You'll be working on Kaluza’s Energy Retail platform, a SaaS solution that empowers energy retailers globally to revolutionise their core operations and accelerate their decarbonisation efforts.
You can perform a variety of UX tasks, ranging across product design, user research and service design, applying a broad knowledge of UX principles and methods to different contexts and challenges.
- Understanding and designing end-to-end user experiences tailored to the needs of our Australian clients and their customers, with a focus on core energy journeys like moving house and acquisitions.
- Setting a high standard of product design output by creating exceptional experiences for our retailer client users. You also elevate our Design System by actively using existing components and contributing new ones to increase consistency and efficiency.
- Applying a range of service design methods – including journey maps, design sprints, and co-creation workshops – to tackle complex organisational challenges.
- Proactively identify research needs, and produce actionable, highly visible insights that improve our products and services. Frequent playbacks of your findings to the wider UX team, business and clients is expected.
- Using appropriate quant and qual methods to gather and measure data in order to inform considered design decisions. Running user research interview sessions with different retailer client users in the APAC region.
About You
Ideally you’ll have/be:
- A seasoned designer with a track record of solving complex problems and delivering impactful design solutions.
- Highly collaborative, able to lead workshops and design sprints to drive alignment and innovation across local and global teams.
- Adaptable to the evolving needs of a fast-moving global business.
- Proficient in using both qualitative and quantitative data to inform and defend your design decisions.
- Committed to improving design processes and standards, always looking for ways to increase efficiency and consistency, including using AI powered tools.
- A mentor and coach for junior designers and cross-functional partners, sharing your expertise in UX methods and best practices.
- A champion of user-centered design and Kaluza’s UX vision.
- Able to proactively identify design opportunities and research needs within a product area and prioritize work for maximum impact.
- Knowledge of, or a curiosity to learn, the nuances of the Australian energy market.
- Comfortable working across Australia / UK time zones when needed.
