mx51 is a payments-as-a-service solution for banks, non-bank acquirers, and other merchant service providers. We are building a payment platform that allows merchants to accept payments in-store, in-app and online, whilst consolidating all their data on a real-time business management dashboard.
Our Product and Design team is at the heart of that mission and we're looking for a Senior UX Designer to help us deliver exceptional merchant experiences across our suite of products.Reporting to the UX Lead, you'll own end-to-end design across your projects from research and discovery through to delivery. You'll work closely with Product Managers, engineers, and external stakeholders to translate complex payments problems into intuitive, elegant solutions. You'll also play an active role in evolving our design system, ensuring consistency and scalability as we grow.
This is a role for someone who's comfortable with ambiguity, energised by collaboration, and passionate about designing products that genuinely work for the people using them.
Responsibilities
- Lead UX design across key product areas, balancing user needs with business and client objectives.
- Plan and conduct research and discovery initiatives, synthesising insights into clear design recommendations, wireframes, and prototypes.
- Collaborate closely with Product Managers, engineers, and external stakeholders across the full product lifecycle.
- Contribute to and help maintain our design system, introducing scalable, accessible components.
- Communicate design decisions effectively, connecting concepts to product goals for a range of audiences.
- Manage your own workload across projects, hitting milestones and keeping stakeholders informed.
About you
- 5+ years of experience in UX/product design, with a strong end-to-end portfolio.
- Experience designing for complex, multi-platform products (mobile and web).
- Proficiency in Figma and familiarity with design system principles.
- Include a portfolio or relevant link to your work in your resume.
Good to have
- Background in fintech, payments, POS, banking, or merchant-facing financial services.
- Familiarity with Material Design, accessibility best practices, and mobile-first design principles.
- Experience designing for payment terminals or embedded/hardware-constrained interfaces is a plus.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to present design decisions clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience working in Agile/Lean environments, ideally within a startup.
- Experience conducting user research and usability testing (e.g. Askable, Dovetail, Maze).
