SENIOR VERBAL/CONTENT DESIGNER

Work pattern: 100%

Location:  Sydney or Melbourne

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

R/GA is seeking a hybrid Senior Verbal and Content Designer who can move confidently between brand storytelling, verbal identity and digital content design. At R/GA, senior verbal/content designers are the engine of the team, helping to solve briefs, and bring to the table standout work that meets and exceeds our standards. This role is a full-time role, based in either Sydney or Melbourne, and reports to our Creative Director, Verbal Design.

ABOUT THE ROLE

In this role, you will work across both brand/verbal design projects and content design projects across digital ecosystems. You’ll be responsible for shaping and creating work that pushes creative boundaries – marrying craft and storytelling through language – with content design that raises the standard for excellent customer experience.

This role is both strategic and creative. In any given week, you might be naming a new brand or defining its tone of voice. The next, you might pivot and help shape, optimise, and govern digital content across website experiences.
You’ll also play an important role in reviewing and QAing work, making sure it meets R/GA standards before being shared or published.

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

BRAND & VERBAL IDENTITY

  • Support the Creative Director to shape verbal identity, tone of voice, messaging, naming, narrative and content strategy work across brand-led projects.
  • Develop brand stories, positioning narratives, campaign language, messaging systems and writing frameworks.
  • Translate strategic thinking into compelling verbal concepts, copy systems and content experiences.

DIGITAL CONTENT DESIGN

  • Support content design, including writing, editing and optimising website content, including landing pages, product and service content, campaign pages, EDMs, editorial content and customer support journeys.
  • Use AI-assisted workflows to create and update content and maintain brand consistency.
  • Turn complex information into clear, accessible and useful content that helps customers understand, choose and act.
  • Work collaboratively in agile, multidisciplinary teams across UX, brand, product, engineering and client stakeholders.
  • Present work clearly and persuasively to internal teams and clients, grounding creative recommendations in strategy, customer insight and business rationale.

GOVERNANCE & QUALITY

  • Act as QA for brand and content, maintaining tone of voice, accessibility and consistency across digital touchpoints.
  • Ensure content aligns with UX, accessibility, SEO and brand best practices.
  • Support the development of content models, templates, design systems, reusable patterns and governance frameworks.
  • Mentor writers, content designers and junior creatives, helping them sharpen their craft and judgement.

IDEAL CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:

  • An individual who combines senior creative craft with practical content design experience.
  • You may have a brand/verbal design background, and are comfortable with digital journeys and UX/content design.
  • Alternatively, you’re already a content designer, and eager to flex brand voice at a more creative conceptual level across a variety of brands and touchpoints.
  • You have a good understanding of UX principles, content hierarchy, accessibility, and SEO best practices.
  • Proficiency using AI tools, Figma and Google Workspace to create and present work.
  • Your portfolio shows evidence of established craft and ambition, with at least one project that demonstrates the ability to make a meaningful creative or business impact.
  • You’re comfortable with ambiguity and are eager to explore your own intuition.
  • Support juniors and mid-weights, modelling the standards others emulate.

We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, colour, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, disability, or any other status. If you have any requests or requirements to support you throughout this interview process, please let us know.
