The role of Platform Engineers is to design, build, run and evolve tools, infrastructure, templates and capabilities to deliver business value, and write code to drive automation in running our infrastructure and environments.

The CBA technology unit delivers the best digital banking services to Commonwealth Bank customers and to do so is responsible for digital delivery, group data and analytics, technology, and technology infrastructure, cyber, fraud, physical security and business resilience for all divisions across CBA. It is also dedicated to delivering the best workplace technology experience for our over 53,000 people across CBA and focused on providing the latest tools, technology, and resources to enhance the way we work together and empower our people to achieve more for our customers.
The Senior Platform Engineer role will see you join our Asset Finance and Working Capital technology crew, part of CBA’s wider Business Banking technology function. Reporting directly to Operations Delivery Manager Business Banking, your key focus will be offering software and platform support across Alfa, the Group’s Asset Finance platform solutions.

Tech skills:
We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to possess knowledge of all, but experience or exposure with some, or their equivalents, will set you up for success in this team.
Previous experience as a platform engineer managing Level 2/3 support solutions across a highly available platform and business product.
AS400 (including batch processing / job scheduling / reporting), essential.
Experience working across DB2 for IBM and SQL service essential.
Foundational understanding working across LANSA highly regarded but not essential
Basic experience with Java and Apache Tomcat (Java Web Application).
Window Server management experience.
Observability, Logging and Monitoring tools, essential
SSL certificate management experience
Vulnerability and Patching management experience
Capacity Planning/Management experience
Disaster Recovery/High Availability management experience
API experience – highly regarded.
Exposure to and basic understanding of Akamai/SSO/Load Balancers (F5)/Firewalls
ServiceNow, Jira, Confluence proficiency
Have experience in core AWS services like EC2, VPC, S3, Identity and Access Management (IAM), Lamda and with AWS Managed services - Amazon RDS, Dynamo DB and Redshift.
Proficient in Python scripting, Bash, or PowerShell to automate tasks, manage configurations and troubleshooting essential.
Good understanding of DevOps and CI/CD tools like GitHub, Jenkins TeamCity CI/CD pipeline, AWS CodePipeline and AWS CodeBuild to automate deployments.
