The Hype Team lives within Leonardo AI. It’s a tight-knit, culture-obsessed squad on a mission to make Canva a trend-driving, talked-about brand. With cultural insight, rapid experimentation, and AI-powered storytelling at our core, we create internet-native moments that spark conversation—and creation.

About the role

This role is built for someone who knows what has the potential to go viral and why – you’re the kind of person who can feel when something is about to pop online, and you know how to turn that signal into a format that people want to share. You’ll be the team’s cultural radar. You’ll track what’s rising in niche subcultures, what’s popping on TikTok and Reddit, and what’s bubbling beneath the surface. Then, you’ll turn those signals into crisp creative direction. You’ll be both creator and researcher, and collaborate closely with the Hype Team Lead to turn creative sparks into shareable, scroll-stopping assets

What you’ll do

• Concept and create social-first content designed to spark remixing, sharing, and UGC

• Anticipate cultural waves, emerging trends, new formats and platform behaviours and act early before they peak

• Translate Canva’s newest tools and features into culturally fluent, remix-worthy campaign ideas

• Build mockups or rough edits using Canva & Leonardo AI tools to show what’s possible

• Monitor subcultures and creator communities, especially where AI meets creativity

• Write short, sharp digests that connect trend signals to campaign opportunities

• Work closely with your team lead, designers, creators and editors to quickly move from idea to post

Who you are

• You don’t need a degree. You need taste, timing, and internet fluency.

• You’re a Gen Z social native with 3–5 years (professional or not) experience creating or directing social-first content – either in-house, agency-side or as a creator yourself

• You live and breathe internet culture and understand how AI is shaping it: you’re tracking micro-trends, platform jokes, and creator formats in real-time and can identify the early signals of how users are co-creating with new tools

• You’ve built or grown an account, run a viral campaign, or created content that earned real attention

• You’re not chasing trends. You create them and know how to make them go viral

• You’re excited about AI and know how to prompt creatively

• You’re able to synthesise ideas into 2-minute reads that spark action – not 20-slide decks
