The DevOps Software Engineer role is to simplify the deployment and management of the Cloud Services infrastructure through the automation, standardisation, integration, reporting, compliance checking and remediation of infrastructure under management.
 
This is an ideal role for an experienced Software Developer with strong experience working in a DevOps environment and with a solid programming background.

What you'll be doing

  • The design, development, testing and implementation of micro-services and applications, including database management.
  • The design, development, testing and implementation of automation workflows to provision, change and de-provision infrastructure elements.
  • Report, manage, and where possible automate, the remediation of non-compliance between infrastructure under management and billing systems. 
  • Evaluate and then champion new technology to support underlying business needs and initiatives.
  • The integration, management and support of software and infrastructure management systems (i.e. SMARTS, Ansible, FirstWave, ServiceNow, vCloud Director, DNS and Patching Systems).

Your required skills & experience

  • Degree qualified in Software Engineering or similar
  • Previous experience in relevant technical roles in the application development and software automation space.
  • Experience as a Software Engineer with experience across a broad range of technologies with exposure to network and\or system administration.
  • Hands-on experience in at least 5 of the below:
  • •Scripting and automation with Python, Puppet, Chef, Docker, PowerShell or similar with specific experience in continuous integration and deployment.
    •Software design and development with Kubernetes, Python, .NET, JAVA, Javascript, XML.
    •Demonstrable experience with unit and integration testing.
    •Database administration and management with any of the following MS-SQL, MySQL, or Postgres.
    •System administration with Microsoft Windows server and/or Linux or other Unix variants and/or VMware or other virtualisation.
    •Network administration with switching, routing and firewalls or other network and security devices, such as F5 load balancers.
  • Strong documentation skills and ability to write clear work instructions for other engineers to follow
  • Professional exposure to Continuous Integration/Delivery processes and pipelines.

Desirable skills and experience

  • Any certifications in software, ITIL, Azure, K8s are desirable.
  • Experience with ITIL.
