Job Description

As a Software Engineer at NCS Australia, you will play a critical role in developing the next generation of mobile solutions for high-stakes projects, including our client’s Digital Identity Services. This is a unique full-stack mobile opportunity where you will balance the development of robust .NET backend web services with the creation of high-performance, cross-platform mobile applications. You will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of secure mobile features, ensuring that identity management and data exchange are handled with the highest level of integrity and efficiency.

In this role, you will be the bridge between sophisticated backend logic and a seamless user experience. You will apply modern software design patterns and Object-Oriented principles to build apps—primarily using .NET MAUI and Xamarin Native—that feel truly native on every device. Your work will involve deep integration with RESTful APIs, where you will apply your expertise in HTTP design considerations to ensure smooth communication between mobile clients and complex enterprise backends. Beyond just building features, you will be responsible for the "health" of the application, regularly profiling memory usage and optimizing performance to ensure a premium native feel.

Security is at the heart of everything we build. You will be tasked with implementing advanced application security and identity management protocols, with a particular focus on OpenID and JWTs. Whether you are navigating Apple’s Human Interface Guidelines or Android’s Material Design, you will ensure that our mobile solutions are accessible, secure, and intuitive. As part of a collaborative engineering culture, you will contribute to the technical evolution of our mobile stack, ensuring our digital identity services remain at the forefront of secure, user-centric technology.

Qualifications

  • .NET & Mobile Specialist: You are an experienced senior developer with a deep background in C# and .NET, specializing in cross-platform development (.NET MAUI or Xamarin Native).

  • Identity & Security Expert: You have practical experience with Identity Management, specifically implementing OpenID and JWT protocols in a mobile context.

  • UI/UX Connoisseur: You are intimately familiar with Apple’s Human Interface Guidelines and Android’s Material Design, with experience implementing XIN in iOS environments.

  • Native Knowledge: While you love cross-platform tools, you have a solid understanding of native languages like Objective-C, Swift, Java, or Kotlin when deep-level customization is required.

  • Backend Proficient: You are skilled in developing robust backend web services and have a sophisticated understanding of RESTful API design and integration.

  • Performance Driven: You have experience profiling memory usage in native applications to hunt down leaks and ensure a smooth, responsive user interface.

  • Pattern Oriented: You are a practitioner of modern software design patterns and Object-Oriented development, ensuring your code is modular, testable, and maintainable.

  • Problem Solver: You enjoy the challenge of working within complex, multi-layered architectures and can navigate the unique constraints of mobile security in a federal or enterprise environment.

  • Willing and able to obtain a AGSV Security clearance.
