Are you ready to accelerate your growth in one of the most agile and fascinating industries? But unsure what to expect?

Our Tech Summer Internship program will give you a taste of what it's like to work in SafetyCulture's Engineering team. With guidance from your mentor and team, you'll work on entrepreneurial projects that solve SafetyCulture’s real-world challenges.

Who We Are

At SafetyCulture, we help businesses get better everyday. As the operational heartbeat of working teams, our technology gives workers a voice and leaders the visibility to make smart decisions.

We’re constantly evolving our platform, expanding into sensors/IoT, Scalable and Event-Driven Architecture to name a few, but we believe there’s more to be done.

We’re investing our resources into creating and shaping a better workplace for all. We are growing fast and looking for talented, self-motivated people that value collaboration, growth and learning to join our team.

We’re seeking an intern software engineer like you to join our team.

What You'll Do

Our 10-week Tech Summer Internship program is the perfect opportunity for you to discover how tech can make an impact on our customers. Don’t know anything about workplace compliance and safety? Don't worry, you bring the passion and we'll bring the training to support you along the way.

As our Software Developer Intern, you'll take ownership of critical projects right from the start. Whether it's developing API pathways, or fine-tuning our automation strategies, your goal is to find the simplest and cleanest solution to the problem at hand.

You’ll experience the excitement of a fast-paced development cycle – owning a tight feedback loop, testing and shipping your code to production. Our collaborative culture means you’ll work closely with Engineers and other departments to identify and solve problems that make a tangible impact on the business.

By the end of the internship, you’ll have learnt the ins and outs of the SafetyCulture platform and the engineering concepts that make them successful.

Aside from technical skills, we will also work with you on your development, including:

1. Workshops on a variety of tech-based topics, along with soft skills to support your holistic growth as a developer.
2. Mentorship of our development process and how our engineering systems work. This helps you understand the fundamentals of engineering, enabling you to make an impact from the early stages of your SafetyCulture career.

Who you are

  • You’re a problem solver at heart. You won’t stop until you’ve found a solution and then you'll take one step further to improve it.
  • Curious to learn and comfortable discussing/exploring complex technical ideas;
  • You have a range of out-of-classroom projects or extra-curricular activities that demonstrates your passion for technology, particularly software development;
  • Strong knowledge in computer science fundamentals and development concepts.

What you'll get

  • The chance to work alongside diverse and intelligent peers in a rewarding environment;
  • Training, mentorship and personal development opportunities;
  • In-house Culinary Crew serving up daily breakfast, lunch and snacks.

Eligibility

  • You are able to work in our Sydney office full time for the duration of our program
  • A Penultimate or Pre Penultimate university student in 2026
  • Have full Australian working rights.

FAQ:

1. When do applications close?
Applications will close as soon as the positions are filled. We recommend applying early.

2. How long is your internship program?
Engineering internship lasts 10 weeks over the summer months of December 2025, January and February 2026. We’ll confirm the start date when the offer is extended.

3. What type of projects could I be working on?
We don’t create “special intern projects”. Instead interns work on live problems to have a direct business impact. The most recent Interns worked on everything from helping our platform (monolith to microsystem) to using X (training platform)

4. I have holidays already planned for parts of this period. Can I still apply?
You must be available for the duration of the internship program

5. Does the internship require me to go to the office in-person?
Yes, to get the most out of the internship, and be able to collaborate and network, it is essential that you will participate and engage with this opportunity in-person.

What you need to know about the Sydney Tech Scene

From opera to comedy shows, the Sydney Opera House hosts more than 1,600 performances a year, yet its entertainment sector isn't the only one taking center stage. The city's tech sector has earned a reputation as one of the fastest-growing in the region. More specifically, its IT sector stands out as the country's third-largest, growing at twice the rate of overall employment in the past decade as businesses continue to digitize their operations to stay competitive.
