We’re hiring an Engineering Manager (SaaS)

  • 🗓️ Full-time | Permanent
  • 📍 Preferred location: Sydney based
  • 🏡 Hybrid working: 2 days in office, 3 days WFH

Does a competitive salary package with company stock, five wellness days per year, a flexible benefits package of $1,000 per year and a fantastic team culture spark your interest?

👋 Meet AlayaCare! We’re a fast-growing SaaS scale-up on a mission to transform aged and disability care across Australia, Canada, the US and beyond. Our platform helps care providers deliver exceptional service in homes, communities, and residential settings.

We’re big on Tech with Purpose and passionate about improving lives - all while having a little fun along the way (we’ve been known to enjoy a team lunch or three).

 The Role:

We’re on the lookout for a Software Engineering Manager who’s ready to bring their outcome-focused leadership & passion for developing engineers to the table. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, you’ll lead an Australia-based team of software engineers working across product domains to deliver and maintain features in our flagship SaaS platform for ANZ customers. You’ll create clarity, set an ambitious but realistic delivery pace and build a high-performing team that’s proud of the impact they have on the care sector.

Your days will involve:

  • Leading, coaching, and motivating a team of engineers, supporting their growth, ownership and impact while keeping team health front and centre
  • Owning delivery outcomes - setting direction and ways of working, anticipating risks, and ensuring the team reliably ships high-quality software that delights customers
  • Translating business objectives into technical plans, prioritising work that improves product reliability, scalability and performance
  • Participating in technical discussions, code and incident reviews (without needing to be the most senior technologist in the room) and using them as opportunities to raise the bar on engineering excellence
  • Collaborating closely with Product, Design, Customer and other Engineering teams to solve interconnected problems and ensure customer satisfaction
  • Championing pragmatic AI adoption - encouraging the team to use AI-powered tools and practices to safely improve developer productivity, code quality and reliability
  • Onboarding & developing top talent, running performance and impact reviews and creating an inclusive environment where people can do their best work.

You’ll thrive in this role if you:

  • Bring 3+ years’ experience leading software engineering teams in a technical environment, with strong cross-functional leadership and organisational skills
  • Have a degree in Computer Science, Engineering/a related field or equivalent practical experience
  • Have strong knowledge of modern software development practices (e.g. continuous delivery, testing, observability) & experience working with API-based systems
  • Are eager to be at the forefront of AI adoption & usage within your team
  • Are an excellent communicator, able to translate technical and business concepts into approachable language for different audiences
  • Are known for building healthy, high-performing teams - setting clear expectations, giving great feedback & balancing reports’ autonomy with accountability
  • Stay current with industry trends and enjoy evolving how your team works to improve reliability, quality and speed of delivery
  • Take pride in your work and care deeply about the impact your team has on customers.

Bonus points if you:

  • Have knowledge of the aged or disability care sector
  • Have previous experience with AlayaCare products or a similar care software product

We believe great work should be rewarded. Here’s how we show our appreciation:

  • 🏡Choose your own 2 days/week in office, 3 days WFH
  • 💰Competitive salary + company stock (RSUs)
  • 🧘 5 Wellness days per year
  • 💳 $1,000/year flexible benefits package
  • 👶 22 weeks company-paid parental leave
  • 🧡 2 days company-paid volunteer leave to support causes you care about
  • 🍕 Team lunches, events & wellness activities
  • 🤝 A genuinely open, inclusive, and collaborative culture
  • 💡 A chance to do purposeful work in the fast-paced tech sector, whilst making real impact in the care space.

Belonging matters.

We’re committed to building an organisation that reflects the communities we serve. Diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility aren’t just buzzwords here, they’re woven into everything we do.

Need adjustments to participate in the recruitment process? We’ve got you. Just reach out to our HR team: hr[email protected]. We do not accept unsolicited CVs from Recruitment Agencies.
