The Software QA Specialist will be an important member of our Infotainment Apps Software group at GM Canada, which is part of the larger GM Global Engineering team.
The Role
Software QA Specialist will be a qualified individual contributor who has knowledge and understanding of all aspects of the function and exercises independent discretion and judgment on significant matters based on professional knowledge.
You will be responsible for defining, implementing, executing, and maintaining test plans, test cases and test automation tools/scripts to ensure software is delivered with high quality. You will review requirements, specifications and design documents, to better understand the features. You will also help analyze the requirements so that better and simpler designs can be created to meet the requirements. You will design, execute and automate efficient test cases to cover the requirements. As a QA specialist, you will ensure that all the test cases are automated and running under a continuous testing pipeline. This role will work closely with software development teams, requirement teams and program managers during the entire product lifecycle.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities)
- Define test strategy and test plan based on software requirements aligning with development plan.
- Design detailed test cases based on requirements.
- Build and maintain continuous testing pipeline
- Automate test cases and run those under the continuous testing pipeline
- Develop test tools and test scripts to automate the testing.
- Prepare test report, provide initial issue analysis, and contribute to defect prevention.
- Set up and configure necessary test equipment and environments for test execution and automation.
- Perform testing in test vehicles.
- Participate and contribute to continuous improvement of test processes and methodologies.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- 4+ years of experience in testing Android based Apps that work on an Embedded system or equivalent mobile/Infotainment/embedded software testing.
- 3+ years of software quality assurance or test experience in automotive industry
- Must have strong automated testing experience. Demonstratable 2+ years of experience on writing scripts with Python / Java / Kotlin for test cases that run under a Continuous Testing Framework.
- Strong experience Continuous Integration Testing under a CI/CD pipeline. Demonstratable experience working with Jenkins or any other CI/CD automation server.
- Good understanding of JAVA, Kotlin. Able to read the code, suggest code level improvements and provide feedback to the coder.
- Solid knowledge of software quality assurance methodologies and tools
- Knowledge of Scrum/Agile software development process
- Knowledge of flashing images and setting up hardware for embedded systems
- Experience with vehicle communication network protocols (CAN, MOST, Ethernet etc.) as a plus
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
- Self-motivated, able to deliver on time, a quick-thinker, a quick-learner and able to work in a fast-paced work environment.
