Kardex VCA Pty Ltd is seeking a motivated self-starter to join our Australia New Business Team in the role of Solution Design Engineer, to be based in Sydney. This is a Full Time Position, which reports to the Director New Business, ANZ.
As Solution Design Engineer, your role is to assist and support the sales team during both pre- and post-sales. In this capacity, you will analyse customer data to fully understand their business requirement, develop system designs, layouts and project estimates, with objective to develop Kardex solutions that is leading edge, cost effective and competitive in the offering to customers. This will require collaboration with the Country Realisation and Regional Solution Design teams.
Your tasks
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Pre-contract
- Conduct audit on existing customer operations and develop design level documentation.
- Ensure that the customers business is qualitatively understood and that all data modelling tools reflect reality within the confines of such business working tools.
- Develop models that reflect the customer’s current business and highlight the effects of proposed enhancements.
- Analyse available data and communicate our preferred option(s) for the customer evaluation.
- Provide technical design, layout and estimating support to sales staff.
- Complete design and estimation in accordance with Realisation formats and procedures, also seeking input from other functions, as required.
- Assist sales staff with the preparation of proposals (incl. Description of Operation) and tender submissions.
- Participate in increasing the collective knowledge of the team, both technical and competitiveness.
- Develop understanding of WMS functionality and application.
Post-contract
- Responsible for post contract implementation of non-physical aspects of Kardex Systems, i.e.;
- operational planning guides
- operational flow charts
- methods & procedures
- develop testing procedures
- develop training programs
- produce product slotting plans
- Review functional specifications for system software together with the Software Engineer.
- Assist in monitoring & auditing final implementation and performance of system to ensure customer requirements have been met.
General
- Maintain awareness and understanding of available techniques and technologies.
- Monitor competitive products/initiatives and application opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with relevant ISO procedures including contract review & design control.
- Assist sales staff to ensure the smooth and complete handover of orders to Realisation.
OH&S
- Take care of your own health and safety as well as that of others including the implementation of risk control measures to prevent injuries or illnesses.
- Prevent pollution to the environment.
- Ensure compliance with Kardex policies, procedures and instructions including timely reporting of hazards, incidents and injuries.
- Comply with relevant statutory and legal requirements, as required.
REQUIREMENTS
- Education: Tertiary qualified in an Engineering or Scientific discipline
- Work Experience:
- Electrical/mechanical/electronic and related software experience
- Min 5 years Industry product and application knowledge in logistic solutions
- Skills: Microsoft office knowledge
- Language: English – fluent (both spoken and written).
- Travel: Per sales and project requirements, in country.
