Description

Our Why

At Datacom, we make a difference for our clients and communities across Australia and New Zealand, harnessing technology to innovate and grow. Our people are our greatest asset, and we’re passionate about building an environment where everyone can thrive and bring their unique perspectives and strengths to our team.

About the Role

Do you enjoy connecting technology to real business challenges? As a Solution Advisor focused on bids at Datacom, you’ll play a vital role in shaping, qualifying, and developing impactful solutions for our customers in network, cybersecurity, and cloud domains.

You’ll be instrumental in guiding the bid process—not just crafting proposals, but ensuring we pursue opportunities that truly fit our capabilities and deliver the most value for our clients and teams. You’ll collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders to develop competitive and innovative responses, weaving AI and new ways of working throughout to enhance results at every stage.

This role is about partnership and influence: you’ll drive the conversation around what we bid for, challenge conventional thinking, and help us deliver work that matters. Whether you’re established in your career or exploring new directions, we welcome your diverse experiences, ideas, and enthusiasm.

What You’ll Bring

  • Strong analytical and presentation skills, able to communicate complex technical concepts with clarity and precision.
  • Experience (or a willingness to learn) in bid management, solution design, and qualification for network, cybersecurity, or cloud services.
  • Ability to estimate and price professional and managed services requirements, considering business outcomes, customer fit, and Datacom’s capabilities.
  • Sound judgement in qualifying opportunities—evaluating customer needs, strategic fit, risks, and the potential for long-term partnerships.
  • Curiosity and courage to challenge the status quo, always seeking smarter, AI-enabled ways to improve bid quality and outcomes.
  • Collaborative mindset, eager to work with diverse teams and partners, and foster an environment that encourages unique perspectives and innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Shape and qualify each bid—engage with stakeholders to assess customer fit, Datacom’s capability alignment, and strategic opportunity.
  • Lead and contribute to the development of compelling bid responses, articulating business benefits, solution approach, and competitive differentiators.
  • Estimate, scope, and price professional and managed services, ensuring proposals are both commercially robust and aligned with customer value.
  • Present, discuss, and refine solutions with clients, translating complex technology into actionable business impact.
  • Champion new ways of working, leveraging AI and automation throughout the bid process to drive quality, speed, and improved outcomes.
  • Share knowledge and contribute to the continuous improvement of bid and presales processes, supporting the growth and inclusivity of the team.

From opera to comedy shows, the Sydney Opera House hosts more than 1,600 performances a year, yet its entertainment sector isn't the only one taking center stage. The city's tech sector has earned a reputation as one of the fastest-growing in the region.
