Sr. Design Operation Project Manager

The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Project Manager to oversee the production and execution of artwork and design adaptation projects. The ideal candidate will lead multiple projects of varying complexity, from simple updates to intricate design adaptations, including packaging design updates, labelling, and artwork specifications. This role requires strong project management skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with global cross-functional teams to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality results.

You will make an impact in this role through:

  • Project Leadership & Execution: Proactively manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring successful production and execution of artwork and design adaptations, from simple updates to complex design revisions (including packaging design, labelling, and artwork specifications).

  • Adherence to Guidelines: Ensure that all artwork and design changes follow packaging procedures and guidelines, maintaining consistency and content accuracy in all materials produced.

  • Coordination & Communication: Act as the primary point of contact for business project teams, providing regular updates on project status, budgets, and timelines.

  • Data Management & Documentation: Gather and organize input data required for project changes, including scope documents, artwork, redlines, and all necessary documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance with business requirements.

  • System Management: Input and manage packaging projects in Loftware Smartflow, ensuring smooth initiation of work with vendors and proper management of project approvals.

  • Timeline Management: Develop and monitor project timelines to ensure that artwork updates and design adaptations are delivered on schedule.

  • Team Leadership & Coaching: Lead, coach, and mentor employees throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring effective collaboration and providing training to new employees as needed.

  • Problem-Solving: Address and resolve non-routine or complex inquiries and challenges, ensuring the smooth progression of projects.

  • Adaptability: Work within established systems, processes, and approaches, adapting as necessary to meet evolving project needs.

  • Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and alignment throughout the project lifecycle.

Your Skills and Expertise 

To set you up for success in this role from day one, Solventum is looking for candidates who must have the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) with four (4) years of packaging graphics experience within the creative and/or printing industry

- OR -

  • High School Diploma with eight (8) years of packaging graphics experience within the creative and/or printing industry

Language requirements: English and Japanese are required for this role (professional-functional proficiency level). Mandarin would also be beneficial.

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Experience in design, art production or graphic arts related field

  • Experience in Project Management of complex projects

  • Knowledge of FDA regulation and uniform packaging laws and regulations

  • Knowledge of healthcare packaging industry

  • Ability to manage high volumes, shifting priorities, and tight timelines

  • Proficiency in MS Office to include Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Adaptable to work in a variety of systems and tools as needed

  • Attention to detail and strong time management skills

Work location: Tokyo, Japan

  • Hybrid Eligible

Job Duties allow for some remote work but may require travel to a Solventum location on occasion.
