- Demonstrated capability to operate as a partner to the business. Experienced in applying Australian employee statutory acts, agreements, and case law to ensure compliance. Skilled in influencing collaborators and aligning employee relations practices with business objectives.
- Conduct thorough and objective investigations regarding but not limited to workplace issues, whistleblower, disciplinary, complaints and grievances.
- Provide coaching and business partnering to managers and leaders on handling employee relations issues, fostering leadership capability and compliance.
- Respond to requests, assist employees and managers, document findings, make recommendations and drive appropriate actions to resolve complex employee related matters in a timely manner.
- Partner with the P&C collaborators, P&C delivery partners and assist managers to help assess, perform employee relations work, determine appropriate corrective actions, provide mentorship and solutions, and mitigate risk across all employee relations scope of services and employee relation matters.
- Ensure corrective actions are fair, consistent and comply with all relevant laws, regulations, company employee standards and expectations.
- Analyze data to identify trends, produce metrics and create reports with recommended actions regarding employee relations initiatives.
- Capture and maintain comprehensive and detailed records within a case tool (ServiceNow) while maintaining a high level of confidentiality, develop documentation in response to an employment-related matters and liaise with legal/BP to prepare required documentation for employee, third party or governmental agencies.
- Represent Aristocrat in front of regulatory and governmental agencies, trade unions, appeals, works councils and other employee relations forums.
- Conduct exit interviews, surveys and analyze feedback to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Identify, create, maintain and obtain approval for all necessary employee/labor relations policies, practices, handbooks and procedures across Aristocrat.
- Bachelor’s degree in related field with PHR or SHRM certification preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in employee and labor relations or as an Employee Relations Specialist or P&C business partner supporting employee relations activities.
- Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of Australian employee relations services, labor laws, investigations, conflict resolution, and employee relations best practices such as:
- Fair Work Act and Fair Work Commission - managing unfair dismissal, general protections, and conciliation processes.
- Enterprise Agreement (EBA) experience and EBA negotiation support.
- Union engagement experience within an EBA-covered workforce, managing union involvement.
- Australian termination and procedural fairness frameworks.
- Modern Awards, National Employment Standards and interaction with contracts, policies, and EBAs.
- Act as a liaison between business units and People & Culture to ensure consistent application of policies and practices across regions.
- Serve as a trusted partner to People & Culture and business leaders by providing proactive guidance on employee relations matters, risk mitigation, and policy interpretation.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal to effectively navigate sensitive matters and deliver clear messages
- Working under minimal supervision, provide effective service, support, consultation and resolution of complex ER inquiries and issues through the informed application of company policies, programs, procedures, and federal/state laws.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct formal investigations involving all levels of interaction, documenting findings for legal and audit purposes and providing appropriate recommendations to senior business leaders.
- Proven ability to research information, analyze data, and use sound judgment to draw valid conclusions, prepare recommendations and build plans of action.
- Excellent consultative, listening, and verbal/written communication skills; ability to influence, negotiate and convey recommendations and opinions persuasively.
- Demonstrated ability to manage sensitive, emotional and confidential situations in a composed, discrete and professional manner.
- Excellent conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to prioritize and use time effectively and efficiently.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing with department heads, managers, employees, and vendors to resolve problems and negotiate resolution.
