The Opportunity
Cochlear has an opportunity for a Senior Manager, Strategic Planning based at our Macquarie University Global Headquarters. In this role, you will be responsible for leading enterprise‑wide strategic planning processes, driving long‑range financial planning, and providing high‑quality insights to support Executive and Board‑level decision‑making.
You will play a pivotal role in shaping Cochlear’s future direction by integrating business strategy, financial modelling and commercial insights. This position also leads key finance transformation initiatives and partners closely with senior leaders across global markets and functions.
Responsibilities include:
- Lead the development, refinement and delivery of the organisation’s 5‑year strategic and financial plan
- Support annual strategic and financial planning cycles including Budget, Forecasts, IBP and Enterprise Planning
- Deliver accurate, strategic and insightful reporting for the Executive Team and Board
- Translate business drivers into integrated strategic assumptions to assess performance against long‑term objectives
- Provide strategic business partnering — challenging assumptions, assessing risks and identifying growth opportunities
- Partner with transformation, finance and cross‑functional teams globally to build simple, consistent and scalable processes
- Lead improvements and global rollout of the Integrated Business Planning (IBP) process
- Maintain strong financial governance to ensure high data integrity and reliable insight generation
- Coach and develop a team member to deliver strategic planning function outcomes

About You

Essential:
- 10+ years’ experience in strategy, strategic finance, commercial strategy and corporate planning within multinational organisations
- Strong strategic thinking with proven ability to link business strategy to financial outcomes
- Strong commercial acumen and ability to convert data into strategic insights
- Demonstrated success in Financial Planning & Analytics, enterprise planning, budgeting, forecasting and management reporting
- Experience leading and delivering finance or business transformation initiatives
- Advanced financial modelling skills and high proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Exceptional communication, stakeholder management and executive‑level presentation capability
- Effective across multiple time zones and flexible work environments
- Comfortable with ambiguity, building new processes and operating in maturing business areas
- Outstanding analytical and problem‑solving capability
- Highly effective influencer with strong senior‑leadership engagement skills
- Strong collaboration across diverse stakeholder groups, including executives and peers
- Hands‑on, proactive style; willing to deep‑dive into data and analyse reports prepared by others
- Proficient with ERP/BI systems such as SAP
- Qualifications in Accounting, Finance, Strategy or related fields (CA/CPA/CIMA beneficial but not essential)

- Experience in high‑tech or healthcare industries
- Background in finance systems design, implementation and optimisation
