The HR Technology team owns and supports the groups People Technology capabilities. You will play a key role in being part of the Application engineering DevOps team.
During projects, this role will work with the Project Delivery squad which includes Technical Consultants, Business Analysts and Solution architects across the multiple platforms such as DHP, CDAO, HR Platforms etc.

The Engineering Platforms team is seeking an experienced Staff Platform Engineer (ServiceNow) to join us, with a function dedicated to working with Commonwealth Bank’s global engineering community to use both internal and AI assisted tools and capabilities in ways that improve the engineering experience and productivity. You will be working with CommBank’s top engineers and AI experts to drive training, culture and experimentation so that all our engineers are making the best use of the emerging technologies that make them happier and more productive.
The HR Technology function in CBA is responsible for designing and leading technical skills build across the organization to prepare their people to be skills-ready for today and tomorrow. This includes reskilling and talent development to support the business’ aim to be the number 1 digital bank. The HR Technology function is also focused on creating a better day at work for their people through HR innovation across platforms, processes, and channels, delivering easy-to-use solutions that help their people and support the Group meet their regulatory obligations.
We are seeking people who are:
Provide strategic technical leadership and mentorship driving best practices for ServiceNow customer journey and user experience development as well as associated architecture, deployment and scaling
Oversee the design and development of scalable code features and functionality with a focus on performance and reliability and architect core components, ensuring performance, reliability, and scalability
Participate in cross-group activities to build a culture of one team, bar-raising both our engineering capability and our technology solutions to drive our strategy
Collaborate with data scientists, engineers and stakeholders to define and implement technical requirements. Translate needs into technical solutions and ensure the platform's reliability through robust monitoring, logging, and alerting systems
Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, including architecture blueprints and best practices as well as conduct workshops and training sessions to educate and align the team on platform usage and best practices
Technical skills:
We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these (or equivalents) will set you up for success in this team;
Good understanding of modern Cloud technology stacks (ideally with AWS certifications) and how it can most effectively be utilised and managed in enterprise environments, including knowledge of EC2, ECS, S3, Lambda, Step function, RDS, DynamoDB, IAM
ServiceNow Platform Skills including the following
Scripting using JavaScript (Client Scripts, Business Rules, Script Includes, UI Policies)
Building and consuming REST APIs and SOAP based integrations.
Designing Flows and Journeys.
Understanding and implementing Security Rules
Developing Portals using AngularJS.
Experience with MID Servers.
Designing ATFs.
Experience with UI Builder – Optional:
- Experience with CI/CD Pipelines like Xtype – (Optional)
- Building test scripts with Playwrite – (Optional)

Certifications:
CSA (Certified System Administrator)
CAD (Certified Application Developer) - Optional

Good to have:
A keen interest in researching new AI tooling and you are a daily user of AI coding assistants such as Cursor, Continue, GitHub CoPilot, Aider, Cline, Roo Code etc.
