Staff / Lead Full Cycle Engineer – Engineering Platforms (React/Next.js + IaC)

You’ll help uplift how engineers build and ship software by enabling modern full-cycle practices and developer experience improvements.

You’ll join Engineering Platforms—working with engineers and AI experts to scale adoption of modern engineering practices, including Next.js-based web engineering patterns, platform tooling, and automation that improves delivery velocity and reduces friction. You will be working with CommBank’s top engineers and AI experts to drive training, culture and experimentation so that all our engineers are making the best use of the emerging technologies that make them happier and more productive.
What you’ll do
Lead and mentor engineers, setting best practices for full stack engineering and modern web development.
Build platform accelerators: reusable templates, example implementations, and automation that teams can adopt quickly.
Drive adoption and uplift of React + Next.js engineering patterns across the engineering community.
Embed quality and security through CI/CD, IaC and automated testing practices.
What we’re looking for
Tech Stack (Primary):
Strong React + Next.js experience
Strong JavaScript/TypeScript capability
Cloud engineering experience (AWS preferred) and IaC (Terraform/CloudFormation/CDK)
CI/CD experience (e.g., GitHub Actions)
Strong engineering fundamentals: API integration, scalable systems thinking, testing culture.
Nice to have:
Playwright; Docker/Kubernetes/Helm
Daily use and exploration of AI coding assistants (Cursor/Continue/Copilot etc.)
