About the role

At Tyro, we’re reimagining banking for Australian small and medium businesses. With over 70,000 customers and $42 billion in transactions processed annually, we’re building the future of business banking — faster, smarter, and more human.

As a Staff Product Manager - AI Platform & Agentic Systems you will lead the creation of Tyro’s AI platform. This is a rare opportunity to shape how AI, machine learning, and agentic systems transform payments, lending, and customer experience at scale. You will be finding business problems to solve, prioritising them and working with the business on how to solve them repeatedly – all the while having fun and creating the platform for us going forward.

As a key member of the AI and Data team, you will work closely with engineering, design, sales, and marketing to define the strategy for your product which will ensure that Tyro can win in market.

What you'll do

  • Own the strategy and execution for Tyro’s AI and Data Platform, ensuring alignment with the broader product and business strategy.

  • Define clear AI/ML objectives and measurable success metrics, tying model performance, customer outcomes, and business impact together.

  • Collaborate with leadership to refine AI/ML priorities, making data-driven trade-offs based on feasibility, cost, and strategic fit.

  • Maintain direct engagement with customers and internal users, validating assumptions and identifying the highest-value AI use cases.

  • Conduct AI/ML and data ecosystem analysis (fintech, cloud, regulatory) to identify opportunities for differentiation and safe adoption.

  • Leverage data lakes, analytics, and monitoring frameworks to track model adoption, performance, drift, and customer outcomes - continuously iterating to improve trust and accuracy.

  • Work closely with engineering, data folks, and design to define AI system requirements, break down complex ML workflows, and manage backlog prioritisation.

  • Ensure efficient, high-quality execution across the AI lifecycle - from data ingestion and model training, to deployment, governance, and iteration.

  • Champion responsible AI practices, embedding guardrails, bias detection, and explainability across systems.

  • Oversee impactful AI-driven launches, GTM strategies, and enablement materials for internal teams (sales, risk, support, marketing).

  • Ensure smooth cross-functional collaboration, aligning stakeholders across credit, risk, operations, and legal to deliver compliant, scalable AI capabilities.

  • Actively contribute to AI platform communication, ensuring transparency in model performance, roadmap updates, and business outcomes.

What you'll bring

  • Proven experience in AI/ML or platform product management (fintech, SaaS, or banking ideal)

  • Strong understanding of machine learning and generative AI concepts — from model training to orchestration frameworks (e.g., LangChain, RAG, agentic systems)

  • Hands-on knowledge of AWS services (SageMaker, Bedrock, Lambda) and Snowflake as a data/AI foundation.

  • Experience working with data lakes, data warehouses, and ETL/ELT pipelines, ensuring clean, reliable, and well-governed data for ML and AI use cases

  • Experience with dashboard creation using Tableau and other dashboards

  • Familiarity with modern ML/AI frameworks: TensorFlow, PyTorch, Spark, SQL

  • Strong understanding of safe AI design principles — implementing guardrails, monitoring, and governance frameworks to ensure responsible AI deployment

  • Experience in deploying models into production, including containerization (Docker) and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, etc.)

  • Experience in running AI platforms reliably and what it takes to be a data first company.

  • Evangelize the use of safe AI and rapid prototyping and a builder’s mindset: curious, pragmatic, and excited by the challenge of creating first-of-kind solutions in a resourceful scale-up environment

  • Ability to influence and inspire across technical and business teams

  • Experience in customer discovery/research - identifying key pain points and translating them into product solutions.
