CommBank invests in the latest AI technology stack across our ecosystems, giving our engineers modern tooling, platforms, and AI-enabled workflows to build with.We are seeking an experienced engineer to join the Secure Desktop and Identity Services domain within our End User Experience (EUX) division — a team focused on enabling safe, seamless access for every employee. You will set the technical direction for our platform ecosystem and guide a squad delivering reliable, secure, and cost-effective end-user computing solutions.
As the most senior engineer in the squad, you will balance hands-on engineering with high-level design and mentoring, showcasing what good looks like in the code you write, the designs you produce, and the standards you hold.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic and Technical Leadership: Shape the roadmap and strategy for your squad's products and services, and provide technical leadership and mentorship across the team.
Engineering Excellence: Demonstrate exemplary code, design, testing, and documentation, lifting the standard of engineering craft across the squad and wider domain.
Delivery and Implementation: Design and implement platform services and support tools that deliver measurable business value, leading the transition from current to target architectures.
Automation and Operations: Build CI/CD pipelines and automation tooling that make changes safe, repeatable, and observable, and provide expert-level support aligned to SLAs and incident management processes.
Innovation and Enablement: Identify emerging technologies — including AI-enabled tooling — aligned to the Group's strategic direction, and improve the Standard Operating Environment (SOE) and related tooling.
Collaboration and Standards: Work with squads across the domain to define engineering standards and patterns, fostering a culture of learning and problem solving.
Technical Skills
We don't expect you to know them all — exposure to several of these (or their equivalents) will set you up for success:
Full lifecycle platform engineering — design, build, run — across Windows and macOS environments.
Backend development in .NET, Java, or TypeScript, with scripting in PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
CI/CD and automation tooling (GitHub, GitHub Actions) and DevSecOps practices.
Microservices, RESTful APIs, and domain-driven design.
AWS, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible), and containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes).
Identity and access management platforms, similar to Microsoft Active Directory and Entra ID, SailPoint IIQ, CyberArk, or Ping.

Technical Influence: Set and communicate technical direction, and influence positive outcomes across teams.
Coaching and Development: Provide effective feedback and mentoring to lift the capability of engineers around you.
Flexibility and Adaptability: Manage multiple priorities across squads and geographies in a changing environment.
Risk Management: Integrate risk, security, and resilience principles into design and delivery decisions.
