This is an opportunity to join the Octopus Australia team on their mission to accelerate Australia's transition to a future powered by renewable energy.

You will be leading the development and implementation of stakeholder engagement strategies for Octopus Australia’s existing renewable energy assets and new projects. Our current portfolio consists of a mixture of early-stage developments through to operating assets. 

The role will report to the Development Director and work closely with Octopus Australia’s Development team and Assets team to support the successful delivery of projects.

The role is based in Melbourne or Sydney– with site visits required to: our development sites, operational sites, stakeholders and communities across Australia.

Job Description

  • Lead the design and implementation of stakeholder engagement strategies to support Octopus Australia’s renewable energy assets and new projects. This includes a diverse portfolio of projects across development, construction and operational phases
  • Develop communication plans to support Asset, Construction and Development project leads
  • Lead engagement activities that promote Octopus Australia as a trustworthy, credible, and responsible partner
  • Coordinate and attend key stakeholder engagement activities such as community consultation sessions, local events and provide sponsorship representation
  • Manage community funding programs to deliver meaningful benefits to the communities in which Octopus Australia operates
  • Administering and maintaining stakeholder databases
  • Provide crisis communications and media relations support as required
  • Build trusting relationships and grow Octopus Australia’s social licence to operate in the communities we have a presence

Qualifications

Ideally, you will have the following qualifications, skills and experiences:

  • Previous experience in a similar position working in the renewable energy sector is preferred. Experience in large scale infrastructure projects such as electricity transmission or oil and gas will be well regarded.
  • Experienced in developing and implementing stakeholder engagement activities for a diverse set of stakeholders.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to develop strong relationships across a diverse range stakeholders
  • Ability to adapt to changing work priorities and deliver results across Octopus Australia’s project portfolio.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Experience of using a variety of communication channels to appropriately communicate with the target group.
  • Demonstrated experience in planning and managing project events.
  • Willingness to travel domestically to deliver on engagement strategies and plans as required.
  • Eligibility to work in Australia.
