Company and Role Overview

Electricity grids are undergoing the most significant transformation in a century. The shift to renewables, the proliferation of rooftop solar, batteries, and EVs, and the increasing complexity of distribution networks are forcing utilities to operate their grids in fundamentally new ways. Gridsight’s vertical SaaS platform uses data, ML and AI to help electricity grid operators to modernise their operations and unlock transformational new capabilities. The opportunity is enormous ($1B+ ARR).

We're already embedded with most of Australia and New Zealand's distribution networks. We’re already working with leading utilities in the US, Canada and Middle East too. We're well-funded, growing quickly, and positioned for the tailwinds of a global shift toward dynamic grid management.

As our ANZ business matures into a market leadership position, we’re looking for a Strategy and Operations Lead. We need a relentlessly hungry and execution-obsessed generalist. Someone able to think strategically and execute independently with precision; adept at managing internal and customer-facing relationships and projects; a gun at spanning across diverse subject matter and switching context; and generally be the powerhouse that drives our commercial engine.

As we enter our fastest growth stage yet, this is an opportunity to build with ownership and impact as we realise our ambition of being THAT generational company.

What you’ll do

  • Power the operational engine of Gridsight, spanning:
    • financial operations (in partnership with our virtual CFO and book-keepers) and projects (including our R&D tracking and claims, commercial and fundraising mechanics)
    • compliance and governance (including maintaining SOC 2, implementing our next framework, insurance and EOFY activities)
    • operating playbooks. In some areas, you’ll level-up what already exists; in others, you’ll design and implement systems from scratch that scale with the company.
  • Project manage enterprise implementations, coordinating Gridsight’s functional delivery term while managing the relationship, expectations and timelines with new customers.
  • Own and drive core business operations with real autonomy and accountability. You’ll set your OKRs, prioritise ruthlessly, and deliver outcomes that materially move the business forward.
  • Support Gridsight’s international expansion, providing operational backbone from ANZ into the US and UK as those footprints grow.

Who you are

  • A proven generalist with grit and flair — comfortable wearing many hats, prioritising ruthlessly and context-switching without losing momentum.
  • An exceptional communicator who builds rapport, trust and credibility quickly — internally and externally. You build strong relationships as a peer of Gridsight leaders and customer executives.
  • You’re detail-oriented yet strategically-minded, knowing meaningful delivery creates leverage. Do it once, do it right, so next time it scales effortlessly.
  • Your strategic approach includes a commercial edge, with acumen that drives a meaningful business outcome
  • You have a genuine desire to be customer-facing, not just internally focused. This role doesn’t exist in the shadows
  • You’re highly adaptable. We execute our strategy with discipline, but when something comes in from left field, you’re the person people turn to.
  • You thrive in ambiguity. You’re comfortable writing the playbook where none exists, and when you see white space opportunity, you step into it.
  • You own work end-to-end - from shaping the plan, to delivery, to follow-through. You capture the learnings for next time, too.
  • You want to build a career, not just take a job - to shape, scale and grow alongside Gridsight as we expand.
  • You’re driven by impact, pace and purpose, and motivated by being part of something bigger than yourself.

What you’ll bring

  • A perennial high-achiever, through school, uni and professional life
  • 4+ years of proven, high-powered professional experience. You’ve lived and thrived in ambiguous, fast-paced environments
  • Exceptional track record of project management, where you’ve guided the direction and been on the tools simultaneously
  • Strong interest in the electricity industry, challenges and trends, including the energy transition and grid modernisation

What might set you apart

  • Exposure to finops and revops (you’ll liaise with our virtual CFO) and/or legal
  • Exposure to the challenges and trends in the utilities and energy sectors, and/or the operating context of enterprise customers
  • Familiarity with enterprise SaaS and their implementations, cloud-based platforms, and subscription business models

What we offer

  • Competitive salary aligned to the right talent
  • Meaningful ESOP so you share in the growth of Gridsight
  • All the table stakes like WFH allowance, health and wellness allowance and parental leave
  • Remote-first workplace, with hybrid head office in Sydney and satellite sites interstate

What that means for you

  • Work with the most impressive humans you’ve ever had the pleasure of working with - it’s a high bar, but you’ll be in great company
  • Put your fingerprints on the most engaging work of your career. And find and define where you can contribute above and beyond - we’ll back you.
  • Literally change the world - the energy transition is happening NOW, and we’re spearheading that shift.
