Job Description

As a Strategy Manager, you’ll help define and guide the strategic direction of Australia’s largest and fastest-growing life insurer. As part of TAL’s Strategy team, you’ll collaborate with experienced professionals and senior leaders to uncover new opportunities, address potential risks, and lead key strategic initiatives. Your work will directly support TAL’s purpose of supporting Australians in their times of greatest need.

In this role you will:

  • Support the development and ongoing refinement of TAL’s corporate strategy, ensuring it aligns with long-term business objectives and market trends.

  • Lead the creation of detailed strategic plans and play a central role in the annual planning process, including organising strategy sessions for executives and the Board.

  • Conduct thorough analysis of market trends, competitors, and industry developments to uncover growth opportunities and inform strategic decisions.

  • Build sophisticated financial and strategic models to generate insights from large datasets and guide key strategic initiatives.

  • Work closely with stakeholders including executives, senior leaders, business units, and external partners to align on strategy and drive cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in business, commerce, or a related field.

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in strategy consulting or in-house strategy roles, ideally within the financial services sector.

  • Strong written communication and presentation skills, with the ability to simplify complex information for senior stakeholders.

  • Advanced Excel and analytical capabilities, with a focus on turning complex data into practical insights.

  • Background in life insurance, superannuation, financial services, or tech is highly desirable.
