Sub-editor - Money magazine (Contract)

Overview
To maintain the highest quality of content in the magazine. This includes but isn’t limited to thorough fact-checking, sub-editing for grammar, and maintaining house style of all text, graphs, graphics, photo captions, house ads and comparison tables. Work at the direction of the managing editor and senior sub editor.
The standard magazine size is 88pp + 4 covers with the exception of a double issue in December*.
Responsibilities:
- Copy fit and correct all stories using InDesign.
- Maintain an understanding of all financial and investment products to ensure copy is correct.
- Ensure all figures and numbers quoted in the magazine are correct and reporting is in line with industry standards.
- Be aware of important financial dates in the calendar and important fact-checking resources and insert any high-value information into relevant stories.
- Contact writers with any queries about their work; document and correct all copy accordingly.
- Create compelling headlines and stand firsts that draw the reader into the story and reinforce Money’s authority.
- Understand the interplay between print readership and online audience and contribute to content ideation accordingly.
Qualifications:
- Significant experience as a sub editor or a similar capacity
- Good knowledge of finance is preferred
- Skilled at using InDesign
- Can commit to a 6 days/month (Tuesday-Tuesday), during production week period of the print magazine. Additional will be expected during the December double edition
