More about the role

We are seeking a Systems Engineer to join our Pacific Systems & Services team in Australia. In this role, you will provide advanced technical expertise across the design, delivery, and commissioning of complex connected lighting systems, supporting major infrastructure and commercial projects – including programs such as the North East Link in Victoria.

You will be responsible to:

  • Develop and review technical designs, schematics, and programmable building blocks, ensuring compliance with project requirements and system integration.
  • Work directly with customers to understand requirements, provide technical guidance, and lead discussions across design, delivery, commissioning, and handover phases.
  • Support sales and proposal development by providing technical solutions, contributing to system architecture, and validating feasibility against scope and cost.
  • Coordinate and perform system commissioning (remote and on-site), including preparation of startup plans, system testing, and turnover packages.
  • Prepare and maintain system documentation, including test procedures, commissioning records, and as-built documentation for project completion and handover.
  • Collaborate closely with Project Managers, Proposal Managers, Technical Designers, and external commissioning partners to ensure seamless project delivery.
  • Manage and support commissioning partners by providing technical guidance, validating quality of work, and ensuring adherence to Signify standards.
  • Monitor system performance against project scope and budget, managing punch list items and resolving technical issues through to completion.
  • Prepare and deliver user training, instructions, and manuals to customers to enable effective system operation.
  • Build and test mock-ups where required to validate subsystem functionality and interoperability.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by providing feedback on system performance, design enhancements, and building block optimisation.
  • Support multiple projects concurrently, balancing technical quality, timelines, and cost requirements.
More about you

While we value and appreciate all applicants, we believe that the following experience and skills will be needed to shine brightly in this job opening:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience working with lighting controls, building automation, or connected infrastructure systems.
  • Proven expertise in system integration, commissioning, and technical delivery across complex projects.
  • Experience contributing to large-scale infrastructure or commercial developments involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong ability to operate as a technical contributor, collaborating across engineering, sales, and project delivery teams.

Applicants must hold valid Australia working rights to be considered for this position.
