The role

The ANZ Tax Lead, based in Melbourne, assists the Head, Global Tax in overseeing the tax affairs for the ANZ Region. This position manages the tax risks to ensure compliance with local laws including direct and indirect taxes, Pillar 2, CFC and transfer pricing and tax reporting (management and statutory).

The ANZ Tax Lead manages the Group Tax risk in accordance with the Group Tax Risk Management policy and the Group Tax Policy.

The ANZ Tax Lead will assist management of corporate, group and international tax affairs, with responsibility for the following key areas:

  • Ensure compliance with local and international tax regulations of the ANZ Region (including direct, indirect tax, CFC and tax effect accounting).
  • Business partnering by providing tax advice and tax support to the ANZ Region for products, projects including restructuring, legal entity review and ETR reduction projects, etc.
  • Ensures expert co-ordination of annual R&D tax incentive claim process and liaison with external R&D advisors and internal project managers.
  • Assist with co-ordination and oversight of quarterly management service fees and charge to global subsidiaries/allocation to branches.
  • Ensure successful migration of current ERP tax processes / controls to SAP and to incorporate new tax controls and processes where required.
  • Effective management and leadership of the team to ensure optimal performance, resourcing, retention and professional development.

With a track record of achievement in a similar role, you will have gained your experience in a company that has tax affairs covering both Australia and overseas. Suitable applicants will have/be:

  • Experience working in a company with complex corporate tax, VAT, TP issues, including CFC’s, tax consolidation, foreign tax offsets.
  • Preferably CA/CPA with 15+ years’ tax experience, gained in a corporate or International Accounting firm, in a corporate tax specific function.
  • Experience in implementing Pillar 2 regulations in the ANZ region;
  • liaising and working with external advisors, external auditors;
  • leading tax audits in the ANZ region;
  • delivering ETR savings;
  • preparation of consolidated tax effect accounting and notes/disclosures for statutory and other reporting.
