Role Overview:Join Stryker’s dynamic team as a Tax & Project Accountant, working directly with the Tax Manager and SSP Financial Accounting team to drive Stryker’s direct (income tax) and indirect (GST, FBT, Payroll, and other employment taxes) tax compliance. You’ll also take the lead in delivering key projects aligned with organizational goals.This permanent, full-time role is critical to ensuring the business adheres to its tax policy, managing all direct and indirect tax matters with precision and timeliness. Your success will be measured by the accurate, reliable, and timely completion of tax compliance and projects.You’ll make a tangible impact by partnering with the Tax Manager to provide strategic tax advice, optimize commercial contracts, and support due diligence during business acquisitions and integrationsKey Responsibilities: Tax Compliance

  • Deep understanding of tax principles and regulatory requirements and guidelines.
  • Management of the tax filing calendar independently and influences where possible.
  • Conveys critical impacts to leadership and departments outside of finance.
  • Ability to provide tax advice or review third party tax advice and provide thoughtful input.      
  • Provides thought leadership by staying abreast of regulatory changes and ensuring adherence to evolving regulations.
  • Preparation/support for preparation of Stryker Australia and New Zealand income tax, fbt, gst/bas returns.
  • Assist with Payroll tax as required, including review of various Annual Payroll Tax reconciliations.
  • Assist with review of International related parties’ dealings Schedule.
  • Preparation of the reportable benefits for payroll.
  • Coordinating and managing the Transfer pricing documentation compilation with Corporate and PWC including managing source P&L’s
  • Provide information for preparation of Voluntary disclosure to Australian & NZ Customs
  • Assist the Tax Manager with a review of Superannuation guarantee as required.
  • Assist the Tax Manager with R&D tax claim return.
  • Assist the review tax provisions calculations and payments.
  • Preparation of all internal tax reporting required to be completed for Stryker corporate.

Accounting and Controls

  • Familiarity of internal control concepts and Stryker finance policies
  • Ability to perform basic control activities and document them in accordance with policy. 
  • Deep understanding of financial information and the ability to interpret and communicate the information to finance and non-finance partners.
  • Support on business integrations

 Projects and Change Management

  • Proactively seeks opportunities for process improvement
  • Lead or support projects identified as supporting strategic objectives for the finance team or broader business.
  • Awareness of key tools, and techniques used in project management.
  • Understand project goals, steps to be undertaken and expected outcomes.
  • Ability to contribute to improvement initiatives as part of a project team.
  • Able to participate in process mapping, data collection, and problem-solving activities under support and guidance.
  • Identify and execute small change management activities with their area of expertise
  • Proactively gather input from stakeholders early
  • Ability to forsee issues that may arise, and escalate accordingly.

Business Partnering

  • Build and maintains a relationship with key stakeholders - understands their needs and expectations and also how and when to best engage with them.
  • Communicate and seeks input proactively upfront before decisions and provide advice on R&Os.
  • Leverage business understanding to target questions to provide stakeholders alternative perspectives and to build credibility and trust.
  • Assist with providing key data and inputs required to stakeholders to assist with key decisions.

Quality

  • Knowledge on and commitment to quality standards through the use of local quality management system and local programs in day to day activities. Participation in continuous process improvement aligned with the quality standards.

Critical Requirements (e.g. skills, experience, qualifications):

  • Minimum 5 years Large Corporate tax experience or Chartered Firm.
  • Completed professional certification in accounting, CA or CPA or relevant equivalent tax specific qualification.
  • Strong Technical Tax Legislation experience and attention to detail
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access Database, PowerPoint
  • Exceptionally high level of honesty, integrity, commitment and responsibility
  • Strong communication skills
  • Accustomed to working under pressure and to deadlines with a focus on results.

Desirable Requirements (eg: skills, experience, qualifications):

  • Knowledge of multi-national company environments would be beneficial.
  • Experience working/running projects
