Position Purpose

We are seeking a Technical & Engineering Manager to drive engineering and technical performance across our business. This role is responsible for developing and implementing policies, systems, and processes, coordinating engineering and maintenance projects, and optimising the technical performance of current and potential Interface products for Interface Australia. The successful candidate will provide production support, manage a range of improvement projects, and play a key role in driving innovation and operational excellence within our dynamic organisation.

Areas of Responsibility

  • Direct and prioritise site engineering team activities to make the best use of technical resources.
  • Scope, design, and cost engineering projects including capital submissions.
  • Oversee and supervise the Maintenance Manager, team, electricians, and contractors in repairing all Minto site facilities and operating equipment to deliver a reliable plant operating within control.
  • Keep updated on Interface product developments – engagement in global and local meetings
  • Management and Development of technical personnel
  • Works closely with Product Marketing, NPD and QESH Managers on technical requirements, standards, and product analysis of new products.
  • Provide technical and project support to Account Managers, including industry engagement.
  • Demonstrate an active involvement in and support for company initiatives, both locally and globally.
  • Proactively promote all aspects of safety and actively use the safety connections system

Qualifications and Experience Required

  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, with a background in Chemical/ Materials in the textile or plastics industries.
  • Over 10 years of engineering and maintenance management experience, preferably in managing integrated teams.
  • Proven management track record with strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Collaborative management style, results-driven approach, and ability to work in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong analytical skills for solving complex problems.
  • Experience in establishing metrics and KPIs to drive positive change.
  • Effective leadership and coaching abilities.
  • Resilience in identifying root causes of product and process issues.
  • Ability to develop and implement technical and quality strategies.
  • Strong negotiation skills with local and global stakeholders.
  • Strategic and hands-on mindset.
  • Experience with ISO 17025 and lean manufacturing practices is highly regarded.
