Technical Lead

We’re looking for a Technical Lead to provide senior technology leadership across our client work, new business initiatives and internal capability. This is a highly influential role, reporting into the Group Director of Technology, and responsible for shaping how technology is imagined, designed, delivered and evolved at Akcelo.

You’re someone who can zoom out to understand the broader business strategy, customer needs and emerging technology landscape — then zoom back in to provide clear direction on architecture, standards and delivery excellence. You’re deeply curious about what’s next, pragmatic about what delivers value today, and confident leading technical conversations across clients, partners and internal teams.

What your day-to-day might look like

• Providing senior technical leadership across multiple client engagements, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, performant and aligned to client business goals
• Leading the design and governance of solution and enterprise architectures across experience, content, integration, data and platform layers
• Acting as a trusted technical advisor to senior client stakeholders, confidently guiding decisions on platforms, architecture, trade-offs and investment
• Scoping and shaping new business opportunities — contributing to proposals, solution design, estimations, and technical narratives for pitches
• Partnering closely with Strategy, Experience, Creative and Delivery leaders to turn ideas into technically sound, future-ready experiences
• Defining, evolving and enforcing engineering standards, best practices and governance across projects and teams
• Leading and mentoring multi-disciplinary technology teams across both on-shore and off-shore delivery models
• Working with technology and resource leaders to scale teams, align capability to demand, and plan for future growth
• Driving the adoption and responsible use of emerging technologies, including AI, automation and new platforms, across client and internal initiatives
• Proactively identifying and managing technical, architectural and delivery risks across programs of work
• Monitoring engineering maturity and delivery performance, implementing continuous improvement initiatives where needed
• Supporting technology thought leadership through the creation of accelerators, reference architectures, POVs, and internal frameworks
• Contributing to long-term capability strategy, platform partnerships, and Akcelo’s overall technology vision

To thrive in this role, you’ll need

• 10+ years experience in senior technical or engineering leadership roles, ideally within an agency, consultancy or complex delivery environment
• Proven experience designing and delivering large-scale digital, experience or technology platforms across multiple clients or programs
• Strong architecture capability across modern web, cloud, integration, data and experience platforms (technology-agnostic mindset essential)
• Demonstrated experience leading and scaling teams across on-shore and off-shore delivery models
• Deep interest in emerging technology, including AI, and a practical mindset for applying innovation to real business problems
• Strong commercial acumen, with experience contributing to proposals, estimates and business development initiatives
• Confidence engaging with senior stakeholders, translating technical complexity into clear, strategic advice
• A high bar for engineering quality, standards and delivery excellence
• A collaborative leadership style — calm under pressure, generous with knowledge, and invested in growing others
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence, inspire and align diverse teams
