LEAP is the leading provider of Legal Practice Management Solutions in the world and is part of ATI – one of the largest international LegalTech companies. For more than 30 years, our curiosity and commitment to continual improvement has kept us reimagining productivity tools for lawyers and their staff to support our guiding purpose, to ‘Help lawyers who help people’. The market-leading software we develop, and support is used by more than 71,000 lawyers and their staff in small and medium-sized law firms.

Working alongside our international team of passionate high achievers, you’ll join a fast-growing technology business where things seldom stay the same for long. With more than 1000 smart, caring and ambitious ‘LEAPsters’ working together across Australia, Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland, Poland and New Zealand, you’ll find yourself in good company here.

Meet the AI Free Thinking Paralegal team

AI Free Thinking Paralegal is a new team within LEAP, operating at the cutting edge of AI technology. Led by the previous technology co-founder of CreditorWatch and Avenue Bank, we combine high autonomy, high flexibility, and low bureaucracy like a startup, while enjoying the peace of mind and stability that come with being part of a mature, successful organisation. Working side-by-side with an experienced technology leader (a coder and entrepreneur), you will work on a variety of interesting challenges as we build the future of AI-powered legal assistance.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a powerful impact by revolutionising how lawyers work with AI, enabling them to analyse complex legal matters, prepare accurate documents, and deliver better outcomes for their clients.

What you'll do

We are seeking a highly capable Technical Product Owner/ Business Analyst to help define, shape, and drive the delivery of the Agentic AI Platform - the core system that consumes Model Context Protocol (MCP) services to power the AI Free Thinking Paralegal.

You’ll sit at the intersection of business, technology, and AI innovation - translating complex technical concepts into clear, actionable requirements, and ensuring alignment between development teams and business stakeholders across LEAP and the wider ATI Group.

This is not a traditional BA role - it’s a hybrid of product ownership, systems analysis, and AI strategy, ideal for someone who thrives in ambiguity, understands how generative AI systems work (and fail), and can design pragmatic solutions around those realities.

To make this happen, you will:

  • Partner with developers, architects, and business stakeholders to define and prioritise the roadmap for the Agentic AI Platform.
  • Translate strategic objectives into detailed, technically sound user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional specifications.
  • Deeply understand Model Context Protocol (MCP) integrations and the AI Free Thinking Paralegal ecosystem to identify dependencies and opportunities.
  • Act as the bridge between technical and non-technical teams, ensuring clarity, feasibility, and value alignment.
  • Analyse and document AI-driven workflows, identifying optimisation opportunities for automation and data flow.
  • Work with developers to design scalable and testable MCP integrations and AI interactions.
  • Evaluate and manage the trade-offs between AI capabilities, data integrity, system performance, and user experience.
  • Facilitate backlog grooming, sprint planning, and iteration reviews to ensure progress aligns with business priorities.
  • Stay current on developments in generative AI, agentic systems, and automation frameworks to guide decision-making and innovation.

What you'll bring

  • 5+ years’ experience as a Technical Business Analyst, Product Owner, or Systems Analyst in a software development environment.
  • Strong technical fluency - able to discuss APIs, integrations, and system design with developers.
  • Proven experience working in AI, automation, or complex integration projects.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a strong bias for clarity and execution.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills — comfortable leading discussions with senior stakeholders and engineers alike.
  • Understanding of LLMs or generative AI systems, their limitations, and how to work effectively with them.
  • Experience using agile tools (e.g., Jira, Notion, Linear) and methodologies (Scrum/Kanban).
