Job purpose
The Director of Technical Sales for ANZ leads a team of data experts to develop solutions helping address opportunities and challenges in our customer’s environments. At a high-level the role can be broken down into three core areas
- Champion an environment that enables the Technical Sales team to achieve aspirational outcomes through the development of technical skills and professional engagement.
- Contribute to the ANZ Leadership team to drive technical strategy through the creation and execution of targeted technical strategies complimenting sales motions to create, accelerate and win opportunities in market.
- Represent Hitachi Vantara in strategic engagements such as industry events, while developing a team of spokespeople to enable the representation of Hitachi Vantara at scale.
Responsibilities
People Leadership and Development
- Maintain and develop a high performing presales team including the coordination of recruitment, career and development opportunities, performance reviews and assessment, recognition and reward. Providing effective coaching and feedback to direct (and indirect) reports to achieve and exceed their objectives.
- Identify and develop critical skill and capability to articulate, differentiate, and demonstrate how to implement the fundamental value propositions of Hitachi Vantara products and solutions.
Technical Sales Execution
- Demonstrate leadership of technical strategies for the company in the ANZ Senior Leadership team providing guidance and navigating emerging trends to realize opportunities aligned to company outcomes.
- Develop a Pre-Sales strategy aligned to the local market dynamics, Hitachi Vantara products and solutions, Sales Strategy, Partner Strategy to support the sales objectives.
- Establish resource plans in accordance with budgetary constraints and determining factors that may impact the business by assessing market trends (both local and international) and the introduction of new products and solutions.
- Work as a recognized authority in the field, providing advice and coordinating the resolution of technical issues, along with maintaining competitive differentiation knowledge.
- Develop guidance and strategies to maintain the technical health of named accounts and channel partners.
- Act as a facilitator and conduit for Hitachi Vantara product and solution escalation to the regional and corporate product and engineering teams.
Representing Hitachi Vantara Publicly
- Represent Hitachi Vantara in industry events highlighting differentiated value through messaging on data management and technologies.
- Develop a team of public speakers to represent Hitachi Vantara at scale across the ANZ region, in forums, online etc.
Knowledge (formal education and beyond)
- 10+ years of related technical experience coupled with extensive and strong management and leadership experience.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications highly desirable.
- Public relations experience highly desirable.
- Experience working effectively at the “C” level.
- Sound financial business acumen.
Skills (worked related competencies both technical and non- technical)

- Highly specialized and extensive expertise in relevant technological environments and its applicability in solving business challenges, often a technical resource on a national level.
- Operates with the highest integrity and effectively role models and upholds our Company Values, the Hitachi Spirit.
- Excellent communications skills and the ability to tailor presentations according to the needs and varying levels of technical understanding of different audiences.
- Expert analytical, diagnostic and problem-solving skills.

- Demonstrated commercial acumen and excellent negotiation skills.
