Job Title- The Technology Consultant – Mechatronics
Role Description
The Technology Consultant – Mechatronics role is a customer-facing technical leader responsible for driving adoption of Rockwell Automation’s intelligent devices, motion, and autonomous mobile robot solutions.
This role operates within the Intelligent Devices business, partnering closely with sales and commercial engineering teams to develop and position advanced automation and AMR solutions. The consultant acts as a trusted advisor to customers across key ANZ industries including CPG & FMCG manufacturing, supporting both machine-level automation and plant-wide material flow optimization initiatives. The role is typically hybrid, with regular customer engagement and regional travel.
You will report to Regional Business / Sales Leader – Intelligent Devices based in Australia.
Your Responsibilities:
Technical Consulting & Pre-Sales Support-Partner with sales teams to engage customers, deliver technical presentations, and support solution positioning, demonstrations and proof-of-concepts across motion, LV drives, and AMR solutions.
Solution Architecture & Design- Design integrated mechatronic solutions combining motion, drives, control systems, and AMRs, tailored for CPG & FMCG manufacturing (high-speed production lines, packaging, smart machines)
AMR Domain Expertise- Lead the development of AMR use cases including intralogistics optimisation, warehouse automation, work-in-progress movement, and plant material flow; support site assessments and business case development across ANZ customers.
Specification & Market Influence- Engage early in customer design cycles (OEMs, EPCs, end users) to influence architecture decisions and drive specification of Rockwell Automation platforms, particularly in growth segments such as CPG & FMGC digitisation.
Enablement & Capability Building- Deliver training and technical guidance to sales teams, channel partners, and customers to build capability and drive adoption of motion, LV drives, and AMR technologies across ANZ.
The Essentials - You Will Have:
Bachelor’s degree in electrical or Mechatronics Engineering (or equivalent experience)
Proven experience in industrial automation, motion control, or drives
Exposure to robotics, automation, or intralogistics systems
Experience in customer-facing or pre-sales technical roles
Understanding of industrial environments such as CPG & FMGC manufacturing, or logistics operations
Ability to travel within the ANZ region (~30–50%)
Valid driver’s license
The Preferred - You Might Also Have:
Experience with AMR solutions, fleet management systems, or intralogistics optimisation
Strong knowledge of Rockwell Automation portfolio (e.g. PowerFlex, Kinetix, Studio 5000)
Experience designing integrated automation architectures across production and logistics environments
Experience in ANZ industries such as:
FMCG (high-speed manufacturing and packaging)
Warehousing (distribution centers, automated logistics)
Exposure to digital engineering concepts (simulation, digital twins, system modelling)
Experience influencing customer specifications and working with OEMs and system integrators
Ability to perform system-level trade-offs across cost, performance, and scalability
