About the Role
As a Test Practice Lead at Envato, you will craft and drive Envato's testing strategy, ensuring that each product engineering team applies fit-for-purpose testing practices. You’ll work with embedded test engineers to enhance testing skills across teams and align practices with delivery needs, supporting a quality-focused approach within a globally distributed team.
In this role, you’ll lead initiatives to modernise testing tools and methods, covering both functional and non-functional aspects like performance, security, and reliability. By keeping up with industry trends, you’ll continually refine Envato’s testing practices, focusing on reducing test flakiness and improving testing speed. As a key leader, you’ll collaborate closely with product, design, and engineering teams to foster a culture of quality that aligns with Envato’s strategic vision and values.
What you'll be doing
- Define and lead a testing strategy encompassing all areas of quality, ensuring alignment with Envato's development lifecycle and goals.
- Drive the adoption of testing tools and techniques to enhance software quality, reliability, and development velocity.
- Keep updated on industry advancements, regularly introducing innovations that boost testing efficiency.
- Implement effective test data and environment management to streamline product development.
- Establish metrics to monitor testing performance, using insights to improve product quality.
- Collaborate with product and engineering leaders to ensure testing efforts align with customer value.
- Embed testing practices into product development, promoting a "shift-left" quality approach.
- Regularly assess the cost-effectiveness of testing efforts, ensuring they align with business objectives.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a globally distributed testing team, fostering technical growth.
- Build a community of practice for testing, encouraging knowledge sharing and skill development across teams.
About you
- 8+ years of experience in software testing leadership roles, within a digital business or technology-driven organisation of global scale.
- Strong technical expertise in software testing methodologies, automation, and quality frameworks.
- Proven ability to enhance both technical performance and customer experience through testing.
- Data-driven, using metrics and insights to improve testing performance and decision-making.
- Track record of adopting innovative tools and techniques to boost testing efficiency and quality.
- Highly collaborative, building strong relationships with engineering, product, and design teams.
- Experienced in embedding automated testing strategies into agile development processes at scale.
